I have a 03 130 TDi, which came with one remote key and a spare key, (that is not a remote one)

The missus drives it mainly so she has the remote key and I have the spare, however with the spare it means getting the key in the ignition each time I open the door to prevent the alarm going off.

What are my options in getting a second remote key? Will it have to go to the dealers?
I saw some thread about using a VW flip key and getting that cut. Is that poss and will it work the alarm/immobiliser like the current remote fob?

Any help appreciated!
Thanks!

easy

get a flip key cut, program the remote and take the transponder from your normal key (thats providing you can get it out)

if you can, no need to go to stealer

I have an 04 130 tdi and i am currently trying to change my spare key to a VW flip key.

Bought the flip key off ebay for £32 (exact details of key needed have been posted on the site many times) and have spent the last hour trying to remove the immobiliser chip from my spare key so that i could put it in the new flip key[:@]
Eventually managed to cut away all the glue that was holding the chip in without breaking the glass casing:D
Smashed the chip out of the flip key as i was not in the mood to p**s about with another chip (and you shouldn't need it anyway) + put the key back together with the chip from my spare key in place.

Going to get the blade on the flip key cut tomorrow and once i have programmed the remote to the car...... job done i hope!

It's not hard to do apart from getting the chip out of your existing spare key without breaking it.

key now cut for £8. Flip key programmed to the car ( took about 20 seconds and i just followed instructions posted on here). Picked up SEAT badge from the dealer ( £3.27). Works perfectly:D
Cost roughly £46 all in which i am happy with

Key used is a HLO 130 959 753 AG 2 button VW version

Just rang my local dealer because I wanted to get the SEAt badge for my flip key and they told me that you cannot buy them seperately. I would have to buy the transponder bit of the key for a new badge. Can anyone provide me with the part number for the badge please?
