Hiya,

In need of a bit of advice if possible please.

I know a few of you have this stereo, so I wondered if you could give me a bit of a hand !!

Just took out the Aura HU easy enough, installed the Pioneer Cage, I'm just a little lost on what lead goes where !!

There are existing wires connected to a black & a brown plug, now these will fit in to the new connector, but which one goes at the top & which at the bottom ?

I've also got a loose "mute" wire which I assume I need for the radio to go silent when I get a call, how do I connect that & where to ?

On the old radio HU there was a female plug that the aerial plugs into. I purchased an aerial adapter, but the new HU doesnt seem to have this female part, is this correct ?

Sorry for the questions but I'm a complete novice when it comes to ICE.

Thanks in advance

Right, guessed the wires and it seems to work ok lol

Only thing puzzling me is the aerial adapter, how does it fit & whats the little extra wire for??

I can't remember what type of aerial lead the car has, but if it's the same as the Dub's, then it's a flat plug, that connects to a stub on the back of the Aura HU, normally the newer HU come with a fly lead that should just plug straight into the car aerial connector...

If it's not that then it's prob a hole on the back of the new HU that you'll need to get a male long pin connector for, and then the car aerial will clip onto the back of that.

Like I say all from memory, but I'll double check when I get home...any chance of a pic of the back of the new stereo?!

Thats exactly what it is, it's just a hole where there should be a female plug. Should this adapter have come with the HU ? If not, whats it called ?

The SEAT aerial is a flat type that should go straight into this.

I'm confused over the booster though. I get the long bit goes into the existing flat aeriel, but there is a loose wire, and I dont know where that connects to (white in pic)?

Got it sorted in Halfords :)

Bought the 2nd adapter, but where the hell does this spare white wire go (see pic above) ? Radio works ok, but the wire must be here for something ?

Took the dash off again to route the wire up the A pillar, but the only thing is now that the radio stations I set don't store when I turn it back on.

I'm assuming this is something to do with connecting it with the constant live, but any ideas how - the book is useless ??

Very packed at the rear of the stereo now though, I'll pack everything in with pics as soon as I sort out the presets being stored.

Any ideas appreciated

Thanks again

Chris

I think this is the adaptor you need:

But if you've already bought one (as pictured on your post above) then you'll need on of these to connect up to the new Pioneer...

The spare wire is supposed to connect to a powered cable, if you are not using the blue remote cable from the stereo that will do fine.

As above dmmsta is on the button. The adapters he has suggested are spot on, and as Chr15b said changing the red and yellow wires around will sort the radio station memory out.

The stereo mutes automatically via the bluetooth connection to your phone. So dont worry about the mute wire from the rear.

Oh and to add.... The stereo is superb value for money.. works really well and sounds great.

Excellent guys - thanks

Just like to point out that I sorted the adapters, I had to get them both in the end.

I'll have a go at changing the red & yellow wires tomorrow & let you know how it goes (are the red & yellow one's om the same "loom" - as there is one black & one brown loom)

Had the telephone working too, it's a great piece of kit.

Once the memory is sorted, I'll be able to install it right in & take pics :)

Thanks again for your help guys :D

ps - as I was taking out the Aura radio, I used the keys form the Pioneer, ad I was fiddling about, the red flashing light went off. I didnt think anything of it til I remembered I left a good CD in the Aura !!

Tried plugging it back in but it's dead :( - Any way of getting the CD out again ?

Thanks

Unless you dismantle the unit, I don't think so.

Could maybe be a fuse or something though that stops it powering on?

There is a 10A fuse in it, but I couldnt get it out. I think I must of knocked a wire or touched something I shouldnt when I was trying to get it out.

There goes the Donny Osmands greatest hits cd then.............lol j/k

You should have a Red & Yellow on the loom that plugs into your new Pioneer...unless the Pio has ISO connectors direct into the HU...

If Pio has a loom you should find Red / Yellow have bullet connectors in them, just switch them over, if it's ISO direct into the HU, you'll have to fiddle about & change the pins in the block connector...there was a pin-out posted on here somewhere for the Seat loom.

As for which block connector, one of them should have 8 wires (in 4 pairs) this is for the speakers, and the other should have a few less (from memory) it's this 2nd block connector that will have the power etc in it.

Yep - had a proper look and it's pretty straight forward, cheers.

Swapped the cables over & all seems well. I will go out in a bit & see if the unit has stored the stations & settings.

Also clipped the white booster cable to a powered lead & it makes a hell of a difference. Without it I picked up 3 good station & about 6 crap ones - with it, I picked up around 7 good stations, and plenty of OK stations (even one in wales which show's just how much better it works).

Thanks for the help on this guys, I'll get a few little pics up in a bit :)

Yea, the unit is great, you can choose from about 15 different colours - can't really compare properly until it goes dark, might take some tonight to compare (then again, the match is on lol).

Still owe a lot of people a pint or two on this site ;-)
