It's happening across the marque unfortunately - the in-laws just bought a new Fox (yeah I know!) and that's missing the acoustic hood

Hi All,

This is my first visit to the site and first post! My girlfriend and I bought a DAB TDi last Friday in silver, looks really good, drives really well! Obviously gotta take it easy for the first couple 'a thousand miles tho.......

Does anyone know if its worth changing the air filter for a Jetex one? And if I did this, would it invalidate the warranty? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question.

I look forward to chatting to you all more!

I'd go for a smoothed standard air box, (take the top off and smooth that bit) with a green panel filter from badger 5.

Quick look under the bonnet, showed no black plastic engine cover, as has become the norm on VAG engines. Have been told by salesman that this is SEAT cost cutting and is quite normal - is this true ??

My DAB has an engine cover, strange, must be your luck

Got my 4dr Dab Nov last year, mine's got the engine cover. What it is missing though is a pair of rear door speakers hmph. Trying to figure out if i can fit them myself but after posting a thread it appears the cabling isn't in place so that'll be a long job...joy. The 'rear' cabling is connected to the head unit but i guess somewhere behind the dash it's all rolled up? I can't locate any screws to begin removing the door panel to check for cable, i can't see a way of removing the panel without potentially damaging it.

Other than the vacant sound in the rear of the car i'm very happy with it. Looks good, sounds excellent and drives well. It's my first brand new car and i don't think i could've done better for the price! In a couple of years when the finance is dusted I'll be checking out the FR models :D

No engine cover, but rear speakers in mine - I know which one I prefer !! ;-)

wonder if the lack of engine cover is only on the diesel?

I've also just got the proper Blaupunkt ipod adaptor, anyone fitted one of these?
(I know I can use the 'AUX' socket down near the handbrake, but with this kit I can change tracks and stuff off the steering wheel controls)
