The standard wheels are 185/55 R15 which have a diameter of 584.5mm, with 17's I'll assume you are running 205/40 17? which have a diameter of 595.8mm.
This will cause your speedo to under read, and the weight and width of the wheels/tyres will increase the drag and also reduce your top speed.

Yeah they are 205/40/ 17's. Thanks for the info. Doing 70 in the car seems pedestrian especially in the day.

I hate taking my car past 4000rpm for long periods of time

Lol, the 16v's don't really get going till you get to 4000rpm

Never really tried the top speed, but once had a little fun against a VTS on the "EmThree" runway. Got to 125 and we both decided to back off. Probably because my engine is bigger then my balls  . But a proper track day is in the pipeline.

All I know is that 4th gear tops out at about 110-115ish, but not sure how quick I could go in 5th.

This post is getting quite funny, as the top speed figures discussed are useless unless they were taken from a GPS system. OEM speedos are not accurate especially above 100mph.

I once checked my motorbike speedo on an autobahn, the speedo was reading 172, the GPS showed only 151mph. That was with standard wheels and gearing. Never been that fast again, scared myself stupid.

Well my figures were GPS (road angel) based. But usually by the time your speedo shows 100, you are actually going more like 93.

my 8v did 125mph tits out in 5th with 15" standard wheels on it, i've not got OZ 17's and a full stainless exhaust with decat and it feels slow now, struggle to get 115mph out it now, think its broke though lol
