Im looking at changing my car to either a Skoda fabia VRS or a 2004 Seat leon Cupra tdi (150). Ilike the skoda its quick but its a bit small compaired to the leon. The leon on the other hand is a class looking car but i dont know what would be quicker.

Apart from that the VRS works out to be about £3000 cheaper including insurance quotes.

HELP. LOL

Welcome to the site.

Cupra TDI will be quite a bit quicker as it has 20bhp more and both vRS and Cupra tdi weigh the same.

I would definately go for the cupra as it has quite a few advantages over the skoda imo.

1. Bigger car
2. looks alot better.
3. nice interior, roomy and comfortable
4. modding potential is amazing although VRS mod similarly.
5. more exclusivity. A lot more skoda's on the road imo than seat cupra's.

As obove. Skoda is a cracking car and uses the same engine, if only the lower bhp model. But imo the Skoda lets itself down with the interior, the seats and dash are awful imo. The Leons dash and seat are dated but deffo alot more stylish. Then theres the badge and I know its just snobbery, and the name certainly means alot more than it used to, but it will always be a car that is pushed about by people better branded car

Are u sure that the fabia and the cupra weigh the same id of thought the fabia would of been lighter. Yea i agree that the fabia's interior is a bit on the tacky side. Are there any real problems to look out for with the cupra tdi.

I had a Fabia vRS, Absolutely great car. Not for rear leg room though. Leg room still isn't great in the back of the Leon, but, overall... I would say the Fabia is better built.
IMO of course. Cheaper, and hey.... £3000 worth of mods ;)

thaks scarry to think that either the seat is really light or the skoda is really heavy. yea 3 grand to mod is a bit much for 4 if i were to get one of these cars i would only get a map. whats the suspension land ride like on the cupra.

Bit firmer than the Fabia. The Fabia as standard is wallowy etc. To be honest, the Fabia can be remapped to 165-170hp and the Leon can go from 175-185.
Any more 'using just a remap' have dodgy rollers. They never make them usually over those figures. (For clutch reasons and also the reported Dual Mass Flywheel)
My car was quite nicely modified, and within 8,000 miles the Dual Mass Flywheel was juddering like mad. That was on an 06 car, so 185hp really is the limit.
Loads of torque, for good overtaking, but I'd say between the two the Fabia is a better 'warm' hatch.

the vrs is the one to have thats why u been cing them lots. i had a test drive in a vrs a while back and it is a wolf in sheep clothing.

are there any known problems with the cupra tdi as if i were to get one it would be 2004 between £8000-£9000. and thats for the ones on the mainland i live in Northern Ireland and there pretty rare except for the 2005 fr's but that out my price league.

In fact...

Id go VRS.

Then spend 3k on:

Clutch - £750
Coilovers - £600
FMIC - £600
Rear ARB - £200
Remap - £400
312mm TT brakes - £250

Mufflerectomy - £100
Cupra air intake/ Green filter - £50

Job done

My Ibiza had all the same mods and the Insurance went up £150 a year from £700 up to £850

Obviously it would be diff to other drivers/companies

My neighbour in bangor is selling an 05 Fabia VRS for £7k. Although it has higher milage at around 40k (motorway journeys).
Leon Cupra(FR) TDI is group 13 isnt it? Fabia is only 8/9 i think.

I looked at the fabia before I bought my cupra (although not a smoke burner), drive both and decide, it's the only way.

If you are buying second hand drive a few, first leon I drove was **** no kidding had done 40k and it was horrible, second one I agreed to buy there and then worlds apart (both standard cars too).

Drive them both then decide.
