Tapping

Took out the car last nite and had the window down whilst having a smoke and noticed this irritatting tapping noise coming from the front of my car. Cant describe it properly except that it taps when moving.

Ive also noticed when turning left i get a squeaking sound coming from the car as well. The noise is doing my nut in and I cant work out whats causing it. I cant work out if its coming from the engine or the wheel?

I did a search but theres not alot of info on this, I found one post that said could be a leak under full load? But Ive lost no performance. Car runs fine but just makes a very very irritating tapping!!!

Anyone had a similar problem to this? And if so what it was?

Ive just had the car serviced (40k) and had my hoses changed as the last were perished. Oil change was carried out in the service

need to do a little investigating mate, sometimes belts can make irritating noise, most often its the from wheels though

im getting terrible squealing on the back wheels which i believe to be cos theres nothing left of my rear brake pads

I tell you what, that answers my squeking noise question, When I had the service I was advised that my rear brake pads and discs only had a couple of thousand miles max left on them so that would probably explain the squeak.

The tapping is another thing though. Because it only happens when Im moving it really difficult to tell where its coming from. I got my mate to drive my car round a car park last nite whilst i waited outside and listened although there was so much grit everywhere I couldnt tell which sound was the grit and which was the tapping.

As I say performance of the car hasnt suffered which is a good thing, just this bloody noise

yeah my car is terrible at the moment, its constantly squealing, i didnt think it would be the brakes cos i wasnt applying them???

but after posting on here i conducted a very technical experiment...listening to see if the squeal changes when i apply the brakes and it does, dramatically

so gonna get mine swapped next week when its in for mot

for the tapping, might as well check wheel bolts...it does happen

if theres dirt and **** in the brakes/brakes guards then clean it off cos stones caught near the discs can cause noises

wheel bearings are quite dramatic so doesnt sound like that

Im gonna book it in for 1st week of april and get the rear brakes done, Ill get this tapping noise investigated and see if I can get it sorted. Ill give the bolts a check over as well.

This tapping noise just draws the wrong attention from people
