Went for the final mapping session yesterday evening....which.......like most things.....didn't exactly go according to plan!!
Basically in a nutshell, a bolt on the exhaust decided to work loose, destroying the gasket and eventually ment the bolt/nut combo actually come out making the exhaust blow like a goodun' In the grand scheme of things this wasn't too much of a
problem as it was after the turbo and the wastegate. The other snag come in th eform of the Apexi AVCR boost controller that i've got plumbed in. It turned out that something wasn't right as we couldn't alter the boost . The car was mapped with the boost controller disconnected so that the wastegate would vent to air, and would only let the turbo create the same pressure equal to the spring in the wastegate...basically this was 10psi.
We did a couple of runs at this level, and it made 270hp and the lowest was 262hp, heatsoak i would imagine. I was quite impressed with the figures for the amount of boost. Once i sort out the boost controller and exhaust
problem i should be able to turn the boost up to 17/18psi, so should be up to 300hp odd.
I didn't really know what to expect on 270hp, but the car absolutely flies!! I'd even say that it's probably quicker now than it was with the old engine, which suprised me. It creates full boost....well the 10psi i create at the moment at about 3200rpm and holds it solid until the limiter which is well over 7000rpm, so it drives like a supercharged car really.
So to sum up, bit of a ball ache about the boost controller and the exhaust, but both should be a relatively easy fix.
Game on
