is this a bumper off job?

was told but red that the clips are crap what can i replace them with

smee

Jubilee clips should be fine, as long as used in the correct way. A lot of people fail to tighten them when they are fully over the pipe or recess.

You would be best off removing the bumper, and that allows you to check all the pipes. PLus do some runs up and down the road to check it all before you refit. As mentioned the pipes that come off the intercooler are the worst. Especially the lower one. Also check that all the connectors are ok on the top pipe that goes across the engine, the rubber seals on these can go, only a couple of pence to replace. Also on the diesels there are not too many jubilee clips used. You could always double up if you are still not trusting them. Remmber too, do not over tighten them,

You can't replace the OE joints & clips with jubilee clips.
The hose ends slot inside a rigid plastic housing, and these horseshoe-type clips slide over and lock them in place.

To use jubilee clips the hose would have to slide OVER the item it connected to.

It`s the clips that are shite not so much the pipework, just change the clips. If you start to mess about changing pipework when you don`t know what your doing you could end up in all sorts of problems especially if something goes bang in the engine and they notice your home made pipework.

FFS stupid car!!!! hwo do i remove the front bumper cos its pulls sweet as a nut if i dont floor it but then all of a sudden SMOKE flys out the back (to the point i can see in teh rear view mirror) surely it cant be the intercooler pipe? does it cause that much smoke? and boost leak?

Yep, your loosing air that should be going into the engine and burning the diesel. To much diesel not enough air = smoke.
