'Thud' Noise

Anyone had experiences of Leons seeming to make a loud thud kind of noise when driving on bumpy roads?

Is it normal for it to thud?

Is there anything the dealer might be able to do to calm it down?

Mt first thought is that the spare wheel is moving but i checked and this does not seem to be the case, my next job is to remove the spare wheel and try it again and see if i can eliminate this as the cause of them problem.

Cheers any ideas/suggestions appreciated!

Foy your info the car is a 56 reg leon 1.6 stylance with approx 1000miles on the clock.

Hi Rob, I do get the occasional knock from the rear over bumpy roads (and speed bumps) sounds to me like the spare or jack in the boot.

Doesn't happen enough to annoy me though

Your right there more of a niggle than a major problem, like you say i agree it could be the spare, i guess i need to remove the spare and go for a test drive!

and i was just about to make a thread about the funny smell coming from the rear aswell, thanx for reminding me! i must bury it sometime! lol

That's the down side of ROAD RAGE i'm afraid. If you don't dispose of the bodies you throw in the boot then you can get the odd unwanted noise/smell/police attention.

i took the spare out today and went for a testdrive and surprise surprise - THUD GONE!! damn spare type!

Cant decide if its worth a trip to the dealer!
