230bhp is pretty much the limit of the K03s turbo, so you wont get that from just a remap and breathing mods. Perhaps an extremely optimistic rolling road will tell you you have that much power, but the real world is somewhat different.

Reason being, the K03s can't flow that much air safely. 230bhp is at the limit and if you push it harder, you risk causing damage to the turbo. Tuners know this, so a good tuner wont push the turbo to it's limit with a stage one map.

There is loads of info on this forum about the limits of the K03s, but this post from this forum is a good read:

Plenty of other info in the Ibiza forums too, if you want a read.

With due respect mate, I've been in "Leon Land" for 3 years now. There is more to tuning than boost and turbo flow rates. Intake temps, ignition timing, injector duration, valve timing, EGT etc all play their part.

You seem to be limiting the scope of your view to the flow capabilities of the K03S. There is a much bigger picture. A lot of the engines referred to in your linked thread have smaller ports/injectors than the AUQ and don't have its VVT system. The AUQ is the ultimate incarnation of the 150/156/180bhp 1.8T engine. I'd be disappointed if I had Biglad's mods and didn't get 230bhp and 250 lbs/ft from a well written custom remap. The K03S will safely develop 1.2 BAR all day long.

After my Star Performance remap, 6th gear pulled like 4th used to if thats any help. Acceleration is transformed although I believe CC is the least aggressive remap in terms of power delivery. You'll definitely notice a big difference, thats for sure.

From what I hear, Custom Code is hard to beat, you'll be fine with that. My map was from Star Performance £295 in last years sale. Its a pretty aggressive map, 221 bhp and 250 lbs/ft torque.

not adding to the confusion, i have come to this disscusion really late as well, as i was re-directed here.

im looking to buy a leon soon and confused as which leon to buy, im looking at a early one (00-0 pre face lift)

i have noticed that there is a 1.8 20v (SE) a 1.8 20vt sport and a 1.8 20vt cupra!

am i right in thinking that the 1.8 20v is a non-turbo? what is the power out put of this model?

and the differences between the sport and cupra are the turbos and interior options?

both the sport and cupra put out the same power but the AUQ (ko3s) is a slightly better drive.

so all in all im better off buying which one in regards to future mods engine wise?

Engine mods wise, a 1.8 20vt Sport or Cupra will be best. The 1.8 20v SE doesn't have a turbo and power is 125bhp as opposed to 180bhp. The K03s equipped AUQ engine can be found in both Sport and Cupra at that age. Only way to check is to look at the identifier on the engine block or the engine number on the V5 logbook. The first three digits of the engine number are the code, either APP or AUQ.

status subject to change
for early ones the cupra had leather and all the toys.
sport didnt.

then later on they dropped the sport, reduced the price of the cupra but made all the toys options.

the original cupras were £18,000 later they were cheaper, but if you added all the options they were more than £18,000
