Alloy Fixation

I want to keep my new alloys looking good, but the thing that stopped me doing that last time around was the faff in cleaning them as they got older and the brake dust really got a hold.

I've heard of this stuff called.....

.... which i'd like to know if anyone can recommend?

Clearly it's so easy to use that even thin young midget girlies in skimpy tops can apply it without even looking at what they're doing so a middle aged bloke with a smallish beer belly like me should find it a piece of !

Any other suggestions peeps?

Anything that stops the break dust from taking hold really!

my mate put a wax on is alloy wheels when they were new.

had them on car for 3 yrs then i had them on my old car for 2 yrs.

wheels looked like new. just had to wash them with soapy water and then rinse off.

Heard that rubbing vaseline over them means the break dust sticks to it rather than the wheel. Could end up messy if you touch the wheel though..... Never got round to trying it, just use wonderwheels to clean them regularly.

I use a finish wax on mine ie not cutting agent .and then a spray of houshold furniture polish which keeps the brake dust off

Any solid based wax should be good. Just remember that on track days the little bits of pad that come off will go thru the wax, so a good idea is to just layer the wax on before and not clean it off, then wash the wheels after and re-wax.

OK this is what I use:

Clean alloys with my normal soapy water and a mitt.
Followed by "JEFFS Werkstatt Prime Strong" applied with a sponge applicator.
And then Poorboy's Wheel Sealant.

Soapy water should get rid of most of the dirt.
JEFFS Werkstatt Prime Strong removes any stubborn tar etc, and brings out a nice shine. It also protects.
Then top it off with a sealent.

No acid based products used

wax them and then wash once a week, this will stop the brake dust. And for the odd bits of dust use a alloy wheel cleaner...

The trick is to keep it simple....

Having spent nearly 4 hours claybarring 2 Superleggeras yesterday, I can seriously advise a good layer of wax. my hand hurts.

Make sure its non acidic. I personally use muck off, it works a treat.
