Steering wheel controls

Can some one please help me. I am sure I read some where that the Altera has illuminated steering wheel controls. I would like to know firstly if this is true or if I have just made this up Secondly if the controlls will fit into my Ibiza FR steering wheel. And thirdly if they are illuminated the part numbers left and right for the covers and the little PCBs under them.

Yes, I can confirm that my Altea steering wheel controls are illuminated red.

Well, I not only agree ... I can even tell you the partnumbers:

5P0 959 537 (A) ... "A" includes mobile controls

but I doubt that they'll fit in any other steering wheel than the 5P series, as it's a complete unit (on each side) with 4 buttons each ... and those have to fit into the wheel's notches.

correction:
... just checked, that your IbiFR should have 6L0 959 537 fitted ... so there might be a similarity (though slightly different prices) ... but don't know if the connecting ECU will match.

As my wife's driving an Ibiza, I was telling the difference from her steering wheel to the Altea's ... but the newer 6Ls with mulitfunction SW seem to have the same shaped wheel as the 5P.

btw.
aren't the Ibi controls illuminated? Or does your steering wheel have no controls at all yet? Because then you need a complete new steering wheel.

My controlls are not illumnated, but I think I have the same style wheel with the 4 buttons on two sides. I bet the connectors wouldnt even be in the car for the illumination function. So really I am looking for an Altera that has the drivers air bag popped as I should be able to use mine. Might not be worth it really. Just thought it would be a nice touch. Any one be so kind as to take a pic. Crappy mobile pic would be great.

Does anybody know if it's possible to get a centre cover for a 6L0 959 537 steering wheel for an FR Ibiza? Am looking at getting one for my Sport PD130 and can swop over the airbag but doesn't have a centre cover with it. Any help would be appreciated!
Also regarding th controls does anybody know if it's possible to connect this up to the Alana headunit i have?
