imo there is no point going cat back! you may aswell just get a back box if money is an issue!

i had the BF cat back fitted for a day and then went back to BF for them to make the DP/CAT for my car (they cocked up on the first day!)

the cat back made a SLIGHT noise difference and NO performance increase... the next day i had the 3" DP/sport cat fitted and wow! a definite performance gane... car spooled about 500rpm quicker and revved much better top end! and the sound...

so basically imo... either leave ur exhaust alone... or save up the pennies for a couple of months and then get the whole lot in one go! TRUST ME YOU WONT REGRET IT!

god i should get commission!

hope this helps! :)

EDIT: come on "cupra" owners... pull your finger out... im getting bored of Tris moaning about his exhaust... its about time he got a BF for his car! ;)

My posts went up quick when I was off work for 3 weeks with sod all else to do. Now they are still going up as I have quite literally done Sweet FA today ;)

James, I'm interested in the cat back for cosmetic (sound mainly) reasons. I don't want anything loud, I just want a big of a deeper note from the exhaust. Also, if I stick with the cat back only, all I need to do is pay a £25 admin fee and that, the DB mounts and a TIP are all covered by my insurance. If I change the cat and down pipe, the price jumps up.

So long as it looks pretty and sounds nicer, I'm happy :)

weird... i was on standard map when i had mine fitted, what about you?!

but without doubt may car definitely spooled up slightly quicker and revved much better higher up in the rev range!

makes sense after all... i mean look at the design of the OEM DP (splits into two pipes, or should i say straws?! ;)) compared to the 3" bf DP!

and i was told the OEM CAT was 400 CELL and the BF sport CAT is 100 CELL (so its 75% less restrictive!)

this will all help the turbo to breath better! :)

well like i said rob, sound wise, the cat back did bugger all! :( (you will be disappointed id say!)

i understand what your saying about insurance etc, but honestly, in your situation i still recommend you save up for a couple of months instead of going cat back!

Cheers for the advice James. Might sleep on it and see how I feel. £200+ is a lot of money to end up disappointed if there are little gains to be had. Decisions decisions....

it certainly is rob... after all not many ppl have had the cat back BF system and then had the 3" DP and sports cat added to it... if fact id go as far as to say im prob the only scn LCR owner who has done this... what im trying to say is deffo save up or don't bother at all!

There's dyno lottery and then there's stupidly optimistic;)

70-75bhp losses through transmission:lol:

When you next up pod james, im needing to get my arse up ther soon. I reckon sub 13.5 108-110mph terminals for me now:)

FMIC/DP+Cat/Tip/Hybrid/Paddle clutch all added from my last attempt at 13.87. I may even strip some weight out there also:)

the reason i wan't cat back james is i don't have an extra 300 quid for turbo back and really i just want a nice shiney exhaust that doesn't rot and looks good, i'm not after much more power or anything like that. 260 bhp would be plenty for me if i get it mapped later on. each to their own and all that
