Went to Listers Coventry yesterday and saw the new cupra in that wierd black colour. Next to it was a 2.0 reference sport with a splendid front/rear sporty bumpers on it. Not sure what it was called but couldn't help thinking why on earth the Cupra didn't have that optional kit on as standard. Improved the look of the car no end.

The new cupra doesn't really look any different to the FR really, from a casual observers point of view. Opportunity missed methinks.....

I'm of the same opinion. They had a TDI with the kit on it right next to the new Cupra at Coupers in St Albans. Cupra just doesn't look "special" enough - not for £20k anyway! Just my opinion of course...

i went to see one at arnold clark's so called open day. load of tosh, no-one was there and the sales people weren't interested unless you actually wanted to buy one as usual, actually it was my fault as i told myself the last time i was there that i wouldn't go back:doh: as for the car itself it was in that inferi purply black colour, i am not impressed at all, it looks too tall almost people carrier tall and thin looking from the front. if you know what i mean (rather like its looked in one of those fairground mirrors that stretch you into looking tall and thin) i actually quite liked the interior as i dont really like the "bling" look and the seats were great, but like i say it defo needs lowered big time and a decent set of side skirts and maybe a slightly bigger spoiler, the aero kit on some of the other demo's looks better. imho

That Aero kit is garbage but then we all have opinions.. Looks better naked. All the cheaper models with the kit fitted are "sheep in wolf's clothing".

I decided to get the front SEAT BTC front bumper and spoiler and JE design skirts, rear bumper and exhaust! I do like the look of the Aero kit, however, bit expensive!

What engine is that you got &?

I don't like it personnally, its just so cras compared to the mk1 Cupra and Cupra R kits. I think Seat have lost their way with this model personally. The Mk1 Leon/Toledo are awesome and look great but the newer equivalents don't have that classy yet sporty look to them

So you think the original Mk1 version1 leon cupra's looked sporty ??

They looked like standard Mk1 version1's to me just with multi-spoke wheels.

I'm guessing in around 3 years time, they will revise the look of the Mk2 as they did with the Mk1's.

Remember this model probably has a production life of upto 8 years, you cannot bulid the same looking thing for 8 years..... you have to have room to change it (for the better) at some point during its life.

Ok so mayby not the mk1 v1 Cupras but they had an err of class about them which I don't think the current model has. Its a lovely looking motor but doesn't have that look. The interior is no where near as nice as the inside of the mk1s.

The mk2 just doesn't do it for me i'm afraid. I think thats reflected with a number of people that have defected to other brands (either inside or out of VAG) rather than go from the mk1 to the mk2 cupras
