Red :)

Silver wouldn't look quite right IMO. Black would be subtle and very clean, but you wouldn't notice them at all, if that's what you're after?
Blue, yellow or any other colour would look odd next to black.

So it goes back to Red :)

I was possibly thinking yellow.

Cars going to be mainly black, with the odd hint of silver so i think it might fit in, red is the safer option though i admit.

Will have to have a word with my mate about doing it for me, im a lazy bugger!

Nice touch Arnolfini, I saw those decals on ebay and thought they looked cheap, but seeing them there, they look good, its a shame you have so much alloy hiding it all away.

Good job, looks very smart!!

I have to admit that before painting them, I was having my doubts as I thought they would be too hidden behind the wheels. However now that it's done, I really like the final effect. Looks more subtle, and less like I'm trying too hard!

I'll try and get some pics of the rears this afternoon and post them later....

Here are a couple of pics of the rears.

They were taken at my lunch break at work, after a drive in through the rain and flood water - hence the grubby wheels (which were only cleaned yesterday FFS):

Unfortunately the standard calipers on the rear of the LC are pretty puny in comparison with the front. I was having second thoughts about painting them when I first had a proper look...

However, although the pics don't really do them justice (they were taken in a hurry on my phone), they actually look good in real life. The red paint actually makes them look bigger if anything. You'll see that I've used a different decal design for the rears cos the others wouldn't fit - but I still reckon it looks pretty sweet.

Also in the case of the rears I think the wheel design definitely flatters them! Having the calipers peeking out from behind all those spokes makes you realise there's something there, but doesn't draw too much attention to the tiny calipers. That's my opinion anyway...

So all in all I'm really pleased with the overall mod!

Does anyone have problems with the rear calipers rusting. I've painted mine once with caliper paint (which was sh*te) and twice with hammerite smooth and the rust just keeps coming back. WI gave them a good sanding/wire brushing. They just looks tatty now. Any suggestions....??

Cheers,

Matt.

What type of paint did you use mate? Was it Hammerite or proper caliper paint from Halfrauds?

I'm looking to do mine red (got a black ibiza) and yours look awesome :D

EDIT: Just re-read the thread in case i missed something, notice that in post #30 you used Hammerite, should've read a bit more before posting eh?

great pics so far guys.

I've just taken delivery of a Leon Cupra FR 150 TDi in yellow the other day and as with my last 2 cars, I've painted the brake callipers as I think its a cheap way of improving the appearance of the car.

My last 2 cars were, firstly a Yellow ZR105 and I did them yellow, then a gun metal grey MG ZS180 and they were painted red.

Now, unsure of what colour for the yellow FR now... tempted by red, but unsure of how red looks against yellow.... but then yellow callipers might make it look too yellow, if that makes sence.

I'd love some ideas, also, where did (sorry, forgotten the name) the little Seat stickers for the callipers come from, they look great.

Im still thinking of painting my calipers yellow. Was talking to my mate last night though and he said it would look rubbish and beter to leave them as they are
