Spray a bit of WD40 on them and wait for a little while?

Worked to get my old arial off, and that was jammed on and wouldn't move...

Thats a bit high! But is about what I was quoted by my local garage - so I paid a friend £60 to do it at his work for me :)

You can do the backs quite easily yourself, so that should help the costs. But the fronts should only be about 1/2 hour each, its only three bolts holding them on!

Hmmm cheeky wee buggers !! They have a new manager so I might try the other place where I got my MOT done. I have a mobile mechanic bloke but, he has an aversion to suspension for some reason, which makes me think doing it myself is a big no no !!

Its not too hard - have a talk to him and find out why he won't do it.

You'll need spring compressors, and a good socket and spanner set. Air gun makes the job easier too.

Jack the back up
Remove the rear trim up the sides of the boot, to reveal the top of the shocks.
Undo the nut you can see, and undo a bolt under the car, which releases the shockie.
Drop it out, and you can also get the springs out now.
Refit new spring and shockie, do up bolts nice and tight and repeat on the other side.

Then jack the front up, open the bonnet and get the wheel off.
Undo the top mount under the bonnet (thats the tricky bit, as you either need a special tool, or an air gun for the brute force method!)
Undo two bolts by the brake disks, and carefully remove the old suspension.
Make up the new suspension, cos you might need bits off the old ones.
Refit, and repeat

Easy as that pretty much :)

Its tempting! But I don't have the tools unfortunately - I could probably manage the rears, but the fronts are fiddly

Hopefully your shopping was more productive than mine. I spent 3 hours trying to buy a new pair of sunglasses and couldn't find a single pair that I liked or that didn't look like my cheeks has been amputated !? Spent a whole hour in one shop, came out and couldv'e screamed !! [:@]

They are easy to fit. I did mine in just over an hour, so don't let him feed you any sh#t on times. If your careful with the top mounts on the rear you dont have to take any of the trim off. Is it gonna be worm killing low or practical low?

Well to be deadly honest I really dont know. Recieved kit today and cannae tell at all yet, have been told it lowers up to 40mm so dont know. I dont think it will be that low as Im still anticipating teaching vacancies to pop up around Easter as that the next cut off. Schools + speedbumps = hell ! Although the chances are very slim :(

-40mm is likely to settle at about -45mm, but thats still a pretty usable size with bigger wheels on :)

I'm sure we could fit the rears ourselves though, and find somewhere to do just the fronts for you!

I have come across a possible problem :(

Went to have his alignment done today - so headed off to the only place in Leicester which can fit their equipment on my car. They set him up, did all the calibration and told me 'Your tracking and alignment is fine, your back o/s wheel is toeing in though but we can't adjust that. But your front o/s wheel has a big caster difference' :(

Which basically means, I think I bent something. But I don't know what, as everything else is pretty much perfect as it is!

Had my suspension fitted today :D took the chap 4 hours to do it as he had to angle grind the front spring and shock off :( was a wee bit rusty he he he ! Been out for a long drive over a few speed bumps too and it seems fine. Really suprising how much better it handles - not scared my car will flip over now. I would say it seems strange driving around and being lower than other cars but, at my height Im used to people being taller than me !!! :bleh: Really please with it. Only cost me £60 too :D
