Ok so im on my way home tonight from dropping the dear old grandparent home, after i have dropped him off i have some nice open dual carrgeways to play around with this is where my strange problem starts (strange to me could be normal?) the mods i have you can see in my sig, im not 100% sure what boost i should be getting i assume around 21/23psi?, so... i booted it to around 5k and im only hitting 16psi tops... then ill be crusing along say 70mph plant my foot in 4th or 5th and ill hit around 22ish psi but the engine sounds like its over revving (or revving faster than the car is going if that makes sense) Car still feels really quick just a little puzzled why it will boost to 21/23psi in 4th 5th, but only to 16psi in 1st/2nd? Obviously ive only noticed it today and havent had a chance to get under the bonnet yet, will do tomoz as soon as im home from work, Just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Cheers. David.

i've had this problem since i got the car mate and as to date no-one has been able to help. sometimes the car will just not boost properly when i'm giving it some, will hesitate and hit 9psi for a few seconds, then just surge back to 20psi etc. i just have to live with it now.

I did think that also but not being really mechanicly minded i wasnt sure of the symptoms of a slipping clutch, but would this mess with my boost? are there any kinda tests i could do to see if it is the clutch? It done it the other night to where i planted it and it sounded like it was wheel spinning but without the wheel spin if that makes sense.

Cheers David.

load based ECU... so if there is no / less load (because the clutch is slipping) the ECU says you need less boost

I get what what your saying, is there anything i could try/do? or is it just a case of a new clutch? if that is the case what kind of figure am i looking at for a uprated one as im going to be going k03s eventully.

Cheers again.

David.

edit: Are our clutches adjustable?

Nah i havent sussed it yet mate, its going to the garage tomoz for new rear brakes and pads fluid etc... so im going to ask him to look at it for me, im really hoping it isnt my clutch as im looking to get miltek dp and race cat this weekend! but i have a strong feeling it is my clutch :(, mind you i done the clutch test yesterday 2nd gear hand brake on etc... and it stalled stright away, is that a sign it might not be my clutch slipping?

Where abouts in oxford you from mate?

David.

Edit: is there anything else i can try? eg would bleeding the clutch help? or is there any adjustment?

Booo, thats a shame, bleeding wouldnt help? id love to run it till its buggerd but im losing proformance :( put my footdown in 4th/5th revs sale up but doesnt pull, some times it feels like it bites and starts to pull again.

In a way i hope it is the clutch because then i know what it is and dont have to search about, but on the other hand thats £350 i could of spent on the dp and race cat :(
