Is there really a long hang time for the NEW Leon Cupra or are all the dealers in Cahoots with each other to keep the RRP price high with not much room for discount. It wouldn't surprise me if you SUPER CUPRA pre orderers get your cars well before expected - A transporter passed me on the M60 today with 5 on board!

I reckon a yarn or two may be being spun here and there to keep interest and the price on the ceiling!

Any thoughts by you experts ?

Most people have been told May/June.

Dealer demo cars are arriving in preperation for the launch this weekend. Each dealer is getting one car. These could be what you spotted.

Search elsewhere where I've posted a response to my query from Seat UK. They pretty much confirm it due to their limited build slot for UK cars.

Most if not all the ones in the country, are for dealer demo's, there are some that are available for buyers. However they are entirely option free!

Basic spec car £19595. All the cars for factory order will be built in factory batch allocation, which reduces availablity. Next build schedule for Cupra's is mid to late March, this is when orders with customer options will be produced.

Then they will stop Cupra production again for a few weeks, and then go back to producing them for the next batch of orders.

So if you want one with options, my advice would be to get the order in before the middle of March, you might stand a better chance of getting it sooner.

EDIT: As Syphon rightly says. May/June delivery is the current estimate based on ordering before the March build schedule.

Was quoted week 16 build last night with delivery end of May or early June. This was for standard car with Bluetooth.

my mate in the docks said that he has seen about 50 come in on the last Vag delivery last week. its just nobody paid any attention to them because A) they were a bit plain, most were in black ( his words not mine) and B) the same ship had a delivery of 40 Audi RS4's!!!!!!!!!!!!! that sort of stole the limelight.

He also said last week there were 2white Peugeot 207's badged up RC left hookers and ( basically the french version of GTI) these had security sealed bonnetts and were picked up by a covered Peugeot transporter, test cars i would say.

Just been to Niddvale Seat in Harrogate and they have a Cupra in the showroom under a cover. Tried to get it off but got surrounded by salesmen armed with order books.

I asked when it was being launched, they said they were waiting till they get the demo in a week or so.

They looked so disappointed when I told them I had come to pay for the my FR.

I have just been into my dealer and they received their demo yesterday. The sales guy was quite happy for me to have a good look round it but it hasn't been PDI'd yet so I couldn't take it for a test drive :(

I had a go in my dealer's demo last night :) Really heavy rain and only 8 miles on the clock so pretty sadate drive ;) Looking forward to another go next week and placing my order.

Long lead times should hopefully mean good residuals  fingers crossed.

My dealer has a yellow one in the showroom and I spent about an hour nosing around it today. Its amazing what you look at! Didn't have the bonnet up but was trying to work out where the intercooler sits. There looks loads of room for a big one at the front. I think one of the reasons why the interior gets poor reviews for being plain is that it is just so simple in its lay out. Everything is there, it just doesn't shout "look at me, I have a turned aluminium radio volume knob"
He also had a red one outside being valeted - this is the one I test drive on Saturday.
