Looks outstanding mate. Nice to see an unadulterated (bar the towbar) "proper" Cupra.

Try some of this stuff on your leather: http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=26_34&products_id=57

Its without doubt the best leather conditioner you can buy and it'll have your interior looking and most importantly smelling like new in no time.

I see you're getting a remap soon. Jim at Star Performance in Dysart will sort you out. He got 221bhp and 250 lbs/ft from my last Cupra with the AUQ engine, only mods were a milltek cat-back and a hyperboost DV.

Thanks for your comments Ross - I've got to say yours looks the canine's gonads with those tints, i bet all the neds run for cover fearing a drive by every time you cruise down the street!!

You noticed my shabby leather then? cheers for the tip I just bought some simoniz leather cleaner stuff but it's pretty crappy so i'll give this one a go.

I should also get on the phone to Jim - do you know if he does custom maps or is it just a generic chip tune? I had the revo free trial and it was really impressive but maybe a little agressive for me. i'd like something that goes bannanas at high revs but is tame lower down the range for driving in the snow/economy/letting the missus go to tesco's, if you know what i mean. I've seen folk get flammed for making comments like that before but 90% of my driving is every day commuting etc.

Jetski,

Looks really smart mate, just like mine when I picked it up a year and 25k miles ago. I might have a look into a remap of mine at some point, hopefully putting an closed air induction kit on at the weekend, uprate the DV and see what it does.
How do you find the fuel economy, I struggle to get 300 miles from a tank on mine.

300 miles seems a very low figure for a Cupra? I get more than that each and every time from my LCR so I'd expect the Cupra to be better than that.

Would have to agree with IBD on the economy point, seems to be around the 300 mile mark that the petrol light comes on. I think I read somewhere that the Jabbasport remap if better on fuel as it runs a leaner mixture - thats possibly the case with the LCR as well. again from what i've learned here the choice of improved economy but not by all that much.

As I say most of my driving is commuting, on slow, busy A roads, but I confess i do hammer it hard when the opportunity presents it's self and I have noticed that on long motorway runs I generally get more from the tank.

How do other find theirs? anyone got any opinions?

I think 330 is my best ever figure and that was all motorway miles and not driving fast at all, I have however seen it as low as 220!
I had a 130 tdi leon before as a company car and that would easil do 450 to a tank. The funny thing is that one was easier to drive fast, but used a lot of oil.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm working in Ghana at the moment.

Thanks for the comments mate. I'm hoping to get a set of 18" RS6 Alloys next month, I think that will make it look much better.

The Gliptone's stuff is the dogs bo**ocks. You won't believe how new your interior smells after using it.

Jim will do a custom map or a generic GIAC map for you depending on what you want. If you're after more power at the top of the rev range but also a bit more economy in every day driving, he'll be able to sort you out.

300 is a normal tank mileage figure on the 1.8T Cupra/Sport. I usually get a bit less than that and I'm running on Shell V-Power 100 octane. Nearly all of my driving is around town at the moment though.

Both will be the same mate as they make the same power/torque. There may be some small differences, but nothing that would show itself in the real world. Driver skill would play a bigger part in determining which is faster.

The AUQ engined car is noticeably quicker to drive as it holds onto its power for longer. The APP runs out of steam earlier.

In real life driving as Rob says, the difference is pretty negligeable. However, if you plan on tuning the car, APP is not the way to go.

It would possibly be a bit more flexible with the higher flow of the K03S but its not the turbo that gives the AUQ its broader power spread. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) is what makes the biggest difference between these 2 engines. This is what gives the AUQ engine the advantage over the APP.

A K03s remapped with exhaust and filter should see you around 200bhp, rising to 210bhp if you're lucky. Torque levels will be similar.

A K03 has no chance of making that power I'm afraid.

Not wanting to claim I'm an expert, but ..... I have a 2000W reg Leon Sport which will have a KO3 turbo and the remap Star Performance performed has given me 215bhp and around the 220ft/lb torque with a std exhaust and green panel filter, might have got lucky or it might just be the rolling road variations????

Are you 100% sure it's the K03? What's your engine code? It's entirely possible that your sport has the K03s, which would give those power figures. Sport doesn't necessarily mean K03 only.

I'm not sure what the engine code is off the top of my head, but I understood that as this was just about the oldest Leon you can get it will more than likely have been the KO3, as the KO3s was the more recent version. Either way I'm happy as it was a lot of bang for my buck :)

If it drives the way you want, sod all else matters :)

But for discussion sake, and for the benefit of those who are interested, knowing the engine code would be interesting :)

My last Cupra gave 221bhp and 250 lbs ft. This was AUQ with K03S turbo, milltek cat-back and hyperboost DV. Graph is below.

IMO, some of the posts in this thread are a bit conservative as to expected power gains. With a full exhaust and induction kit and a good remap, you should be expecting in the region of 230 bhp and 240-260 lbs ft. You tend to find that sports cats lift the bhp but if the downpipe is 3.0 inch diameter or above, it will drop the torque slightly compared to a 2.5" pipe.

230bhp is pretty much the limit of the K03s turbo, so you wont get that from just a remap and breathing mods. Perhaps an extremely optimistic rolling road will tell you you have that much power, but the real world is somewhat different.

Reason being, the K03s can't flow that much air safely. 230bhp is at the limit and if you push it harder, you risk causing damage to the turbo. Tuners know this, so a good tuner wont push the turbo to it's limit with a stage one map.

There is loads of info on this forum about the limits of the K03s, but this post from this forum is a good read:

Plenty of other info in the Ibiza forums too, if you want a read.
