Has anyone noticed that when you set the wipers to intermittant you get a click everytime the wiper goes up or down??? Very strange...Its like an indicator click but fainter?

That'll be a relay in the bowels of the dash. I think you can hear it too when you turn on the rear window de-mist button.

yes it's a mechanical relay, sometimes known as a contactor switching the wipers on/off

you will prob hear the same when you put the rear screen heater on or flash your high beam

some of the more up to date cars now have solid state relays that are silent

yea i quite like it also if something goes wrong and you cant hear relay you know its related to that but if it clicks and nothing happens it got to be problem with the actual function your wanting to use, the mk4 proably uses electronics older than 5 years would probably go back long way

yeah ssr's are the way forward

no moving parts, no contacts to get dirty and no chance of the master circuit and slave circuit cross connecting via water ingress..................ohh yeah and they are way smaller too

hopefully i wont hear this click with the new turbo behind the dash!!!!!!! it can be quite annoying tho

i had a wiper click on my old mk4 SE every, but it was the wiper actually hitting the the piller cos some tech had lent on it and bent it:censored: chipped the ruddy paint an everything :doh:
