removing the door strips and smoothing it

Hi guys

iv got a new kitted bumpers coming to go on very soon but i need or would like the door tips removing and smoothing,

how do they come off and also when i have removed them, whats behind, is it a few holes that need filling or,

its either that or just remove them and colour code them

also iv seen on ebay a de badged grille for the leon, but it says it wont fit on a cupra, does anyone no if thats true etc cus i cant see why it wont

As far as I know the side trim is glued on but dont quote me on that one. there could be clips

Easier than getting the existing ones smoothed and buy new primed ones that came on the model year 03 Cupras. These are already fully detextured, and not too expensive here are the part numbers if you want them

They're clipped on, removing them will leave holes in the door skins.

The rubbing strips are stuck on using a sort of double sided tape that comes already fitted to the strip. You peel the backing off and just stick it on. However the rubbing strip also has locating plugs that fit into holes in the door.

The centre grill size changes across the Leon range. A normal Leon is different to the Cupra which is different to the Cupra R. So if it says it wont fit, chances are, it wont fit.

I stand corrected, I remember hearing about the locating lugs now that its been mentioned

Depending on who's doing the work (and what they're charging) it may still be cheaper to get the ones on the car masked off, skimmed, primed and painted
