from work last night, booted it and heard a loud pop. Lots of smoke out the back and started juddering up the hill with no turbo. I thought that the turbo had blown! Spoke to the place i bought it from where it is now and they have told me that the boost pipe has come off. He says he's going to order a new part for it. Did a search and this problem sounds quite common. Is it a design fault from the factory or summat?? I can just see whats going to happen, il drive it for a week or so and the pipe will come off again

which pipoe was it that poped off? one coming out the intercooler? think once a new one is put on it should be fine

Not as far as i know, some people have clips snap, but it usually just hisses and loses power, without having smoke etc etc.

When my hybrid blew there was lots and lots of white smoke out the back.

ive had my intercooler pipe pop off but just dryed it off and tightened it to torque setting F.T

I had black smoke when mine went, i guess because the fuel isn't being burnt properly

i had black smoke some out of mine when the intercooler pipe come off and the only way to repair it is a new pipe and clips. allthough my turbo seals went on mine aswell and i got a new turbo on warrenty

my internals are going warranty is void and i dont think me taking a couple of scn'ers out on sunday night for a spin at the crawley meet helpd as she was motoring i didnt notice any smoke when my hose popped off

yours is not a derv tho mate. i just got thicker smoke as i normally got smoke out the back anyway

When my turbo bolts failed when i had my first hybrid fitted, the soot was immense, as i only had 2 bolts holding it on, the other 2 had sheered off, meaning that the exhaust gasses where escaping before entering the turbo

When i would put my foot down, i would get some boost, but the black smoke out the back was soo bad that the cars behind me where just diserpering in a black smoke screen. It was really bad even went past the police station as they had a pollution monitor outside it, booted it past thinking hhmm have some of that pollution

thnks for the feedback. Yeah i assume it was the intercooler pipe which has come off. So u reckon with a new pipe and clip it shouldn't happen again. My car has done 52K. Is this common on all turbo cars??

Mine was the end by the IC, the section cost £20 and minutes to fit and it's fine now. It lasted 94k so hope thats the last time i have to replace it
