Right i've bought my new clutch which is for a G60 corrado, I need a new flywheel but i want everybodies opinion as to weather i should get a lightened one or not.

I know that this can cause the gearbox to rattle. Who's had this done and what's your advice for me?

Also what else do i need to fit a G60 clutch to my mk3 cupra?

better revving (less mass to spool up) but at the detriment of other stuff.

fine on race cars, OK on track cars, but a PITA for driving in traffic
 
there's not a whole lot to it. Flywheel & Bolts, Clutch & fixings - that's about it. Clutch kit will include new bits I'm sure.

Gearbox oil change makes it lighter when taking the box off though - so drain it before :) but it's still bloody heavy.

If you're feeling really thorough, you could buy new driveshaft bolts - they can be less good 2nd time around (and you'll be removing them anyway)
 
Anyone know the part No of the driveshaft bolts and the G60 clutch bolts? I've been told that i'll need longer bolts?

german and swedish - inner CV gaitor kit I think has the bolts in there

I have a really light flywheel and clutch assembly on my car and the gear whine when off the power is quite a lot - I dont mind so much as it is a track car but it would drive me mad on an everyday road car - my advice would be stick to nothing less than 11-14lb flywheel

on my old car my race weight flywheel made a huge difference.

the main down point to a light flywheel is loss of torque, however this would not really be a problem on the turbo engines.

i have been looking into doing this as my seconf dual mass flywheel is on the way out.
it seems to be quiet expensive but somthing i will eventually do due to the gains you will get.

things are made a certain weight on road cars for a reason, but these reasons are comfort and economy to a certain degree. most times this isnt relevent to people who want to tune thier car.

personaly i think it would be a good thing to do!

nearing 60k on 228mm flywheel, and 2nd clutch. (and 1st took a beating since my car was jabba'd before i bought it and revo'd it myself) car is running the best it ever has.
