an 02 car shouldn't have rust problems.

the only rust issue I'm aware of is at the bottom of the rear window....i had mine sorted under warranty.

ive got a tiny bit at the bottom of the rear windscreen on the right hand side, not sure wether mine is still covered but they are all generally covered by a 6 year anti corrosion warranty.........the 02 plate will still be covered but i would steer clear as Seat will probably try and find a way of saying that the paintwork had been broken/chipped by a scuff or stone chips.

They will only cover rust under the 6 year anti corrosion warranty if the area being investigated is the original paint/part

If it has been resprayed or replaced then is unlikely you will be covered

Yours should be covered mate - jsut had my boot resprayed because of this. Was a tiny amount mind you.

But I also have rusting on both rear arches - I know one arch was replaced but the other is genuine and seat said that this was caused by road debris and therefore not covered under paint warranty. I'm still to get it looked at by chips away people.

Think it's not as un-common as the above peeps have mentioned. I think I saw a post from cupra t girl about the tailgate rusting and I *think* rear arches.

Ha ha! Yeah there has been a couple of threads about this

I have a 'tiny' bit under my rear wiper (where the water just sits in the seal) and they wouldnt cover it under warranty as they said it had been resprayed before! I was then quoted £399 to sort it out! No thank you!

sounds like the car could og had a rear shunt and then a shoddy repair job causing rust. i'd steer clear unless is eally cheap and you know some one who can repair it. mine was cheap but i knew it needed a respary as the drivers side and tailgate had, had a poor attempt at some point.
