I can about bear the look of the front with that Aero kit on. Its a crying shame there is a big ugly fat badged grille to spoil the view. A horizontal grill ala mk1 would habve been better imo.

LOL

Looks are a very personal thing;-
I hate the Jag E-type and can;t see what the fuss is about
I think the Lamborghini Muira looks, well just plain old

(these are 2 cars that always come in the top 5 of the best looking cars pf all time)

There really is no accounting for taste ;) One mans pleasure is another mans poison

Was tempted to go for the cupra but as many have said I don't feel its as appealing as the mk1 LCR, and although it has more power its also heavier and doesn't seem to really be any quicker. Might change my mind once a few more track tests are done but going by the the review in top gear it doesn't seem to match up to the competition or the old LCR.

Hopefully they'll revise it in 18 months and I'll take another look

The Mk1 didn't do at all well in the tests either - it seems like they just didn't get the point IMHO. CTR always won because it was more track focussed. I would suggest the same for the Mk2.

The Mk2 is significantly better handling, we'll have to wait and see what the ride is like on British roads, and we'll have to take their word that the brakes are better than Brembos. It'll chip just as well as the Mk1, which is one of the Mk1's biggest assets.

I think it's an unknown quantity still, untested on UK roads yet.

I've seen many magazines etc change their minds on cars when the full UK spec car arrives and has to deal with our cr@p roads.

In terms of looks though I think that SEAT have missed a trick with the MK2 Cupra, it is possible to do mildly aggressive but understated (they achieved that with the Cupra R)

to be fair I've never driven one, I was just surprised by the track test that was posted on the forum

I take it the cupra in the top gear mag was the full uk spec?

Steve,

Holders currently have a silver Ref sport with the aero kit on. I must say it looks the business in the flesh - I've not been 100% sure after having seen the photos.

Of course - my ordered fully loaded FR TDI will be arriving there at some point (if it's not already been spoken for of course).

Cheers Scott

I was sold on getting an FR Tdi (althoguh not black ;) ) then last night I pulled into Holders and saw the silver ref sport which looked stunning.

I'm struggling to decide whether to stay with SEAT at all though as I also like the Volvo V50 Sport too

Either way I need a new car inside a month for when I start my new job :funk:

Well if you stay with Seat you'll retain your youthful sporty image and can talk mods, and banter with us on the forums.

If you get a volvo you'll have resigned to get your pipe and slippers and could possibly be banned for being an old grandad. ;) :p

I know what you're saying, looks are highly subjective, but to say the Muira looks plain old makes me want to sulk in a corner like a child in offence [:@] . Its plain gorgeous more like :funk:

The Mk2 Leon makes me want to weep in shame  It can't hold a candle to the Mk1. The designers ought to have been :laser:

Just IMO of course [B)]

Evo tested the new Cupra in January:

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/204607/seat_leon_cupra.html

They also have a new Leon TDI with the full kit and wheels on as a long term test car. It's in the magazine but not on the website yet.

In the UK. The press (including uk press) drove them late last year in Spain. That EVO article is the spanish test.

We think UK press have started to get their hands on the right hand drive Cupra's on UK roads from this week.

Let's hope they have some decent group tests to see how it stands up to the competition. I notice the new Civic Type R has only got average reviews in the press this month when compared to the current hot hatches.

The latest issue of Evo tests a group of 'Hot hatches' including the FR and the new Civic...

They didn't really seem all that impressed with the Civic and the FR was at the top of the pack which must surely bode well for the Cupra (putting the style opinions aside).

I wondered why they had the Leon FR and not the Cupra in that group test. What ZBOYD says makes sense. Obiously the UK press just can't get their hands on them yet.

I'm going to wait until I've seen a few on the road before making a decison on getting one. I'm gonna change my LCR this year for something different, the Cupra at £20K is a lot of cash when you can get a Focus ST for £18K, which most of the motoring press rate as the best hot hatch on the market at the minute. The Cupra will have to be good to tempt me.
