Already sold mine to make way for the Cupra. Decided to go carless for a few months to save up and to get the best possible price for my LCR, which is what I got.

Less fuss now, and not worrying about the LCR depreciating further.

Im not and I dont think there will be. I recently bought an Altea at a dealer and talking with him about my Cupra R which also came from there he said that the MK1 Cupra R actually went back up by about £500 to £750 as a used vehicle once more details became available on the MK2 Cupra.....the feeling is it hasnt got the looks and isnt inspiring people....so they are going for the MK1 instead.

Be interesting to see what happens though.

Personally i think the new Cupra doesnt even come close to the old LCR... in looks anyway.. think they lost something in the process of changing its name, maybe if they ever make that "Cupra R" version it will end up looking more aggresive and meaningful.. i just think there is no change in look from the FR to the Cupra except a lick of matt black paint here and there and change of a tail pipe and two front seats... and to be honest the rear looks so un Cupra like i would say it resembles the look of a Mk1 leon 1.6 sx.. (no offence to be taken there owners of 1.6, just the way that the lwoer models dont have special bodykits to relay the messenge that theres a big fast engine in that model..)
Maybe if the Leon gets the same treatment the Golf GTi got with their R version, that it will look more like a "Cupra" is supposed to be, but know VAG it wont because well it would mean a rival to alike the R32 etc...
IMHO of coarse, its a real marmite thing i think now...

I reckon they will redo the Cupra after about 18 months. Like they did with the LCR 210 and 225

Not driven one as there are no demos just yet, i've sat in SEAT UK's show car.
Test drove the FR in both petrol, (same engine but less power) and diesel.

FR shares the same underpinnings/chassis, except the Cupra takes it one step further with improved suspension and lightened running gear ala the new Audi S3.

FR handling is far superior to the LCR, more surefooted, as standard. Took around £1200 to make my LCR handle the way i wanted it too, and still it wasn't perfect.

Not to everyone's taste, but i've had 6 years of driving the old shape Leon, Cupra before it and then the LCR. Time for a change.

Looks aside I think it will be a good step up and I'm sure many people will take it.

But I think the more subtle looks will actually work in the LCR's favour. Interest in high powered Seats is about to go up, people will want to know what the fuss is about and there will no doubt be many comparisons to the LCR.

In fact.. I'll put a fiver on the fact that when Top Gear review the new Cupra, they start the article with a reference to the LCR and will feature one on the feature. You heard it here first.... ;)

Anyway... things like those reviews and TV show segments will spark new interest in the LCR in my opinion. People who really want the Cupra, or a car like it, may be forced to look in the direction of the increasingly affordable LCR if they can't justify the Cupras price tag.

Second hand costs of the LCR have not yet fallen into the 'chav bracket', but they are not far off, when they do and people start regulalrly seeing LCR's with Phat Exhausts and Neon's there may be a mass exodus to the mk2

I would hope that insurance costs stops that from happening. While Chav's these days might be able to afford cars like the LCR, I hope and prey that insurance is still just out of their reach. And I hope it stays that way too, even if that does mean I pay more.

I hope so too as it's not something I want to see.

However some see Insurance as an optional extra

I think personally living in essex.. pretty chavy region!.. that seats are frowned upon and other VAG group are chosen instead... GOLF's tend to be the chav fav together with A3's... so i think Seats along with Skoda will remain non chavy area... which I'm pleased to notice!

I can't see the LCR becoming a chav favourite as I don't think the styling is 'hard' enough for them.
My opinion on it is that the LCR won't fall much further due to the MKII Curpa because from what I've seen on here and my own feelings, the MKII isn't a worthy upgrade.
It's not just the MkII either - I can't think of any car on sale today at the same sort of money which offers the same as the MKI. When I sell mine it'll be for something completely different.

These are just my thoughts on it, I'm not doing down the MKII or anyone who likes it or has one on order. I'm just saying it's not for me.

the fact that the LCR is five door will put off many of the "burberry brigade" plus the Civic Type R value will fall as well with a new shape out and between the two any self respecting chav or chavette will go for the civic.

by the looks of some of the ones on here i'm afraid it has already reached the chav bracket

might go for a rear wheeler next, maybe a 350z

Have you seen the aero kit? the new leon looks well nice with it on, i might be tempted by one of these

Agreed mate, there are not many other LCR's or LC's around here that i have seen done up..infact it makes me feel like the chav for having one (well sorta) but i love it, There are getting a lot of mk4 GTI's around thou that have been boyed up, but i still think the Leon holds a slight amount of exclusivity as there really are not as many about compaired to the focus's, fiestas etc etc. There fore i can never see the leon falling into this Chav bracket, as the comparitive prices are quite a bit apart on them, and the insurance is still way out of there price range IMO.....
I saw the mk2 cupra at the autosports show and wasnt as "blown away" as i was when i saw the LCR for the 1st time, its just a progression of design i suppose, and im sure after a while it will grow on me, especially after people start to add a few bits, i know i will end up thinking oh thats nice...so we shall see, my verdict is still out on them at the mo. I know for the time being i am hhappy with my LCR and until i have been in the new cupra, im staying put...
