Major Service advice required

Hi everyone,

My TDI 130 Sport 53' is due a major service, its covered 10k since I got it and has 25k on the clock, ive booked the car in a the local Seat dealer but dont have a list of what work will be done, can anyone provide this for me? Ive tried the main websites etc but there is no info to be found.
Also, should I be requesting the type of oil I want or can i be confident it will get decent stuff? I asked about price and got a unsure sounding £160?

All my cars in the past have been done by close friends etc so putting my car in the hands of the unknown makes me wary.............:(

Thanks in advance ;)

The dealer should be able to tell you what's being done.

You should get decent oil, it has to be for the PD engines.

This really belongs in the general mk4 section

Apologies for the wrong thread, im such an amateur!!!!!

I appreciate the dealer should provide the definite list and ive emailed them for it but admittedly a little paranoid about these things sometimes :D

Hi mate, I got the car from Penmans in Darlington which is a bit of a trek cos im in Gosforth but keeping the dealer stamps all the same probs counts for something in the long run plus they have plenty of loan cars so im sorted for getting back up.
As far as cost is concerned ive had an email back from the Service manager, £155 for the 3 year / 30,000 mile service is £155 inc,
which includes an oil & filter change, a full Seat inspection service and a
full fault findings diagnostic check and as with all services all levels are
checked and topped up with Seat approved fluids.
At 4 years / 40,000 miles there are additional items that
are changed, which include an air filter, fuel filter and a pollen filter,
which increases the cost to £240 inc.
Which all seems a bit pricey to me but really dont know where else I could go and save enough money that justifies the non dealer stamp?

Im also torn as to which service to get as my car falls in the middle, its 3 and a half years old with 25k on the clock so regarding mileage it only needs the £155 but regarding age it maybe could do with the filters etc, plus if I go for the £240 this time the next should only need the £155??????

Decisions Decisions

Diagnostic check = 5 min's work
Top up levels = charge you for the half a bottle of screenwash they leave in the boot

Any VAG garage will keep the service history sound.

be wary of what oil they give you, i know a lot of people who took their car in and VW assumed they would like the most expensive oil they have when they didnt need it. i would actually take my own oil when it went in for a service

I'd feel a right tit supplying my own oil for a service. It must save a small fortune though. :)

Service Recomended

All,

After a lot of decision making etc etc, I actually ended up getting my service done at the Volks Centre in Blyth, Northumberland, its local and the service was superb. They look after you regarding the right oil for your warranty, they even take the brakes apart and clean them as part of the service. With all filters except pollen changed as well as everything else you expect from a SEAT service the price came in at £137, compare this to the £240 SEAT were wanting for the 'same' 40k service and i will definitely be going back. A genuine garage who actually care about your car, Superb!!!! ;)
