I am having problems getting my new Dab stereo to play MP3 tracks from the memory card.
I have used I-Tunes to convert to a MP3 format and copied on the card.
However it will not play in the stereo it just says that the card is empty or error.
Can someone help please.
It is a 2GB KeyMem card I am using.

Thanks.

Norrie.

Hiya Norrie, you have to format the memory card to the stereo. The instruction book tells you how. If you have to format the card, you will lose all the music you have put on it.

there is something about the file names being over 8 characters long on some MP3 formats that don't work, not sure about the exact details but try putting a couple mp3's n it will short filenames. hope this helps a bit at least mate

Hi norrie are you sure youre converting them to mp3? I know by default itunes converts songs to their format of AAC you might need to go into the options and change it to mp3 and select what bit rate you want.

Hi,

I have a Ibiza DAB.

As the others have said you do need to format the SD card in the device and make sure it is formatted in FAT 16. Also the instruction book mentions that if possible there should not be more than 20 directories or 200 files on the card.

The radio only plays MP3 files. I tried putting some WMA files on the card and the radio didn't even list them.

Does the stereo play any of your files? Have you tried recording any DAB programmes onto the SD card?

Think I've sussed it.
I tunes wasn't converting them to MP3 but MP4 for some reason.
Changed the settings now and it seems to be working.
Cool.[B)]
It seems to be a really good stereo.
I'm impressed with the sound from a standard stereo.
Can I ask the grills that are where the mirror adjusters would normally be are there speakers in there?
i.e. tweeters?
Just wondered as it says in the write up it has a six speaker stereo but there seems to be four speakers in the back two main ones and two tweeters.

you should have two front tweaters level with wing mirrors, two loud speakers lower down behing grill, in the rear you'll just have 2 lou speakers behife each big grill as the smaller little grill is just for show iirc.

My dealer wants me to pay £100 for Seats mistake of selling me a car with 6 speakers when they delivered a car with 4!
I'm one of those that got the car before any write up on the offer was around. Dealer said it came with 6, ended up Seat only gave 4. blah blah blah. you know the rest of the story.
So anyway, do you have speakers in the rear then?? I'm guessing you've bought the brand, brand new DAB offer one?!

Also your DAB Stereo. Can you play DAB Radio?! As mine doesnt. It says in the book that you need a DAB Ariel. But I thought as it was a DAB Ibiza edition surely this should come with the car too?? So not only did they say that it had 6 speakers just like the Sport version, but when they say DAB.... They meen it comes with a DAB stereo. BUT you have to buy the Ariel to actually use the DAB!!!!
I've checked that I can recieve DAB in my area. and I can. Only when I try to play a DAB station. all I get is horrible noises and breaking up. and then it justs searches again.

OK. So because that hasnt been working, and I dont have a lot of time to sort it. I have been listening to the "tuner" Which is rubbish!!!! It crackles, it breaks up in certain areas. The sound it not clear atall!!!!

So what has Seat actually sold me, Sport edition, with the old FR alloys (as far as I know!) fog lights, a DAB stereo that can be picked up cheaply online. And a tiny bit more power. Starting to begin I held on 4 months and waited for the new DAB!! grrrr!!!

So anyone, any ideas on the DAB situation??

Thanks

My Ibiza DAB which was purchased last year only has 4 speakers but appears to have a good aerial. I can pick up all the DAB stations I should and even a few I can't with my portable DAB radio. I do live in North London which has good reception.

Anyone know if the new 2007 DABs come with a DAB areial?

I guess that answer's the question about the 06 DAB not having one.
Tried searching but couldnt find anything.
So anyone know how much they cost? and do you have to get them through Blaupunkt?

Mine is the very latest 07 model with the six speakers.
I haven't played around much with the stereo but it does receive Dab stations so I assume it has a Dab aerial.
The tuner also works very well.
Are you sure that the aerial is plugged in?
I think the stereos were getting fitted at port so it may not be connected properly.
If I was you I would take the car to the dealers and kick up f**k.
If you were told it had six speakers they should fit the two extra at no extra charge as some people on here have had done.

I am really pleased with the car as it has a lot of extras for less money than the Sport.

On the original dab you should have recieved a dab areial already fiked on the car. when the cars come of the transporter they have two aerials one in a bag with the centre caps and the handbook pack and the dab aerial lose in the boot if the wrong one was fitted at pdi that would explain a few things and yes they do look different if it looks like a standard ariel about 12 inches long and a continuos spiral down to the base then that is a standard fm one. basically compare it to any other seat if it is the same it is wrong

ok thanks for your reply. This makes me even more angry and I want something definatly done now!
Even after being with this same Seat dealer for 6 years, and have got to know the people there very well. Spend so much money for them.
They wouldnt fit my speakers FOC!
If they dont sort out the speakers ive already told them I wont be getting another car from them! now I know about the ariel too!
I definatly wont be going back there!

What a con. grrr! [:@]

That expains a few things.
It looks as though the passenger door seal has been off.
It is uneven where it must have been pushed back on after running the cable for the aerial.
My aerial is different than a normal Ibiza one.
I don't understand why they dont fit all this stuff at the factory.
I mean it already comes with the different interior or do they do that at port to?
I wonder what happens to all the stuff they take off the car?
Surely they cant sell it as new as it's already been fitted.

So what's the difference, visually, between a standard ariel and a DAB ariel then? I haven't had a chance to play with the stereo and Mrs R's car at all yet.
