My LCR is running dangerously lean!?!

Urm well i had my 52 plate LCR 210 checked on my local rolling road today as i thought she wasnt quite running well and found out that shes only got a Co2 intake of 2.5 as oppose to 4.5 (someone please correct me if thats not the case) Can this cause major engine problems if i do not get this sorted asap?

They couldnt be sure what the problem is as we only had time to do a power run but they think it maybe my BMC CDA??? Or maybe the N75J valve???

Can anyone help solve this without remapping or is that my only option?

Havent been able to check that yet.

If ive changed bits like exhaust etc then does it work out the differences and account for them or not and throw up a fault?

Is a remap the answer then do you think?

The ECU is adaptive so small mods shouldn't make any difference as the ECU calculates it's fueling from various sensors on the car (MAF etc). If it was dangerously lean you'd get limp mode and a check engine light. I still think your local RR are talking sh*t...Did they just stick a probe up the exhaust? Do you still have the standard down pipe and cat?

Get a post up in the VAG-COM 'help requests' forum and see if anybody local to you can help with running some logs. That should put your mind at ease hopefully.

Was 210bhp, ill wait till you guys give me a figure before i tell you what it is now......

mines only 216bhp at the flywheel, im abit dissapointed but im hoping that this air/fuel ratio thing is throwing my timming out and affecting the bhp maybe???

Most standard 210 LCRs put out 220-225bhp.

More like less than 210 I'm afraid, on a very accuarte dyno such as JKM's, have a look at there standard cars all putting out standard figures. I think that's just a myth, as it is with all cars :)

Also, what RR was it at? I don't want to get in an issue, but no LCR 210, makes 15hp more than standard quoted figures. Complete rubbish.

What do you mean, ONLY 216 at the flywheel?

SEAT quote 210 on your car - and that is at the flywheel, thus showing that you are 6bhp up on a standard car.

Ok, so some cars perform better than stock figures, some perform worse. But unless you've got a remap, you're not going to see figures much higher than that...

EDIT:

To add to that, an RR figure can vary from day to day - go back tomorrow and you could be at 220bhp, following day 210bhp...
I'd be happy with your figures mate - unless you've got a real reason to think its running badly, or even proof its not running quite right, then i'd say your worrying too much.

snoopie- it was austec racing in crawley west sussex they have loades of tvr's down there.

pabs- so you would say that the results are a good, expected level for what i have done so far? is getting this excessive lean issue fixed likely to reveal more bhp.

Will an intercooler give me a little more hp while its standard mapping still?

the only mods you have listed, which could relate to power mods, are the bmc-cda, forge dv, n75j, and samco hoses.

The N75J is probably affecting your car, as most people find its a waste of time unless you are running a remap that can utilise it properly.

The forge dv will make +/- 0bhp difference. The samco hoses won't GAIN you power, but might stop your hoses from collapsing and so in essence, will stop you losing power from that, and the bmc-cda probably gives you +6bhp.

So, if my maths is right:

210 +/- 0 +/- 0 + 6 = 216bhp.

:)

Out of interst, why have you bothered with the n75J?
Have you done some vag-com logging before and after, to see what it actually does to the car?

Oh, and i forgot to add:

The lexus lights will only slow you down :bleh:

EDIT: Seriously though, unless you have some proof the car is running badly, i think you're probably fine. If you had said you were pushing 200bhp, then I'd agree with you. But in this case, I'm agreeing with Martyn - i think you car is running ok :)

Go get logging with vag-com to find out

Intercooler won't give you any more power as standard now. Until remapped, where the boost can be set a little higher, and it will hold it harder across the rev-range. For a standard car of 210hp, 6hp gain on those modifications might not sound a 'huge deal' to you, but compare them to that of a standard 210 car, and you'll see how the curves benefit you more. :)

ha ha ha yes im chavvy i no i will grow out of it one day.

i got the n75j coz it was a cheap part that i thought gave me a tiny bit more boost- which it did i now boost 0.9bar. dont know about logging results never done it or know anyone that can.

the guys at austec racing were really addiment that i was really lean and that i should have more hp with the bits ive done.

pabs you did not include the exhaust system surely thats more hp!?!

I may order the firge intercooler on monday and then remap next weekend once its on but im really concerned about this running very lean issue first. surely if i just wait till the remap it'll get addressed then.
