Just wondered if anyone has fitted a grounding/earthing kit to their 1.8t, and if you have what kit did you get or did you make it up yourself etc..

Thanks.

Phil.

after a trip to maplins with about £15 tops and an afternoon with some crimps cutters and a spanner i made my own

may well be phsycological but i swear it starts better and runs sweeter after but at the price i dont care either way - kept me out the house a couple of hours :)

gets my vote for sure though - even if principle only and no facts proven

whos to say also it may lessen the chance of the common melting the fuse over the battery and other common faults electric wise

i just got a kit from www.groundingkits.co.uk when they first started (i think it was ebay) - since then their prices have gone up and up so i'd make my own.

Dead easy to fit the thing, you just need to find some points to attach it to.

1 or 2 chassis points, 1 or 2 on the engine, an alternator connection, and then the battery ground.

Pabs - check out my link in post 3 - has this guy done it differently in terms of points than your kit?

yes.

The coilpack and battery are the same. But the D/S wing is different (I used one of the bolts further up towards the windscreen) and I connected one along the front edge of the intake manifold.

Some of the points in that guide are perhaps more likely to give better results (?) but i just followed the instructions, and obviously purchasing a kit meant the cables were pre-cut lengths.

It won't make that much difference - a grounding kit will do next to f*** all anyway.

lol.
Like i've said on many of my posts on here - it stopped the missus getting static shocks from the car everytime i touched it! :D
I too agree(d) with Fl@pper above - but i'm sure it must be my imagination. Maybe. I dunno. Lol.

in its defense - it's gotta be a hell of a lot better than having a bad earth

and is so easy to do - hell why not

was why i did it

true mate. True. And that must be backed up by my static shock problem - i'd have thought a good earth would have meant i wouldn't have got them - so they MUST have improved the earth.

I just don't know by how much, and if it was beneficial to the car or not.

Phil still told you i'll make this for you no problem, get some blue 4 gauge cable and some gold plated ring terminals and we'll solder them up tidy too
