Very Interesting subject on the M3's it is a very nice car and excellent example of engineering.... The M3 CSL for example weighs 1385KG and produces 262bhp per ton, the Ibiza weighs 1119kg.. Now if all goes well which i belive will... say for example Carlisle petes car produces 320 bhp it will produce 285 bhp per ton and will produce alot more torque than the M3. The M3 will move of the line quicker but the Ibiza will catch it and pass it.:D

You probably want to weight the ibiza.. it does'nt weight 1119kg believe me.
mine stripped out interior was 1157kg

much more gone out of it since and it is still >1000kg

**** me craig you seem to have friends that own every performance car going

Not quiet, but apart from a large range of dub's theres;

- Ferrari 355 Spider
- Porsche Boxter S
- Porsche Caymen
- Lotus Elise
- Lotus Exidge
- BMW Z4
- BMW M3
- BMW M5 (Old & New)
- Audi RS6 (Old)
- Audi RS4 (New)
- Lancia Delta Intergralli
- Evo VIII FQ340

And all the usual 330Ci's, 530D's, Scoobs, etc... So I've been fortunate to go out in most those cars several times and I also have many atime traveled along side some of these too. :D

Video below is of a BT Leon, from what i remember it was about 320bhp, not even an IHI and it seems to leave the M3.

Let's imagine now if it was an Ibiza instead of the Leon, weighing let's say approx 200kg less with more power...IHI power, i know exactly what the result would be.

dont think anyone has ever doubted that a 1.8T with a big turbo would leave an M3 rolling

thats obvious and does not need proving to me

but beat it too 100mph from a standing start by more than a second or 2...i dare you

aimed at no-one in particular but if it was me i'd be thinking 'wow you car which is the 21st century saxo with 4grand spent on the engine just about beats an M3 from a stand still....'

i dont not like the idea of IHI, id ****ing love it! but some people dont know when to quit?!?! dissing other cars which arent as quick (while they are standard)

supercharge the M3 and it would wipe the floor with an IHI ibiza in any gear...swings and roundabouts

That's my problem I don't think any standard car is really fast as I know with £££ it can be made faster, same for my bikes. It's all down to the type of person you are, I can't leave anything standard and I know a run of the mill production car has more potential than it does come from the factory.

I.E Whacking a nice shiney Vortex charger on an M3 :D

I remember Billo getting a 10.5 0-100 in his Ibiza years ago

M3's are about 12.5 to 100 iirc

M3 csl are 12.0 dead

The above is pointless anyway, people dont get opportunities to do perfect 0-60 and perfect 0-100.

I presume it's much more satisfying if an M3 sits on your IHI'd Ibiza bumper on the motorway and you wipe the floor with it there, which is where most little incidents happen.

since stock M3s are capable of 13s 1/4miles at around 105mph

id say both M3 and CSL are quicker than stated

its just as pointless comparing the cars in that way aswell after all what does it prove? certainly not that 1 is overall quicker than the other. there is no sure way of accurately comparing the 2 but both have their advantage areas...surely no-one really cares now though

know which one id rather be sat in though

All depends on the driver

I remember those figs were from Evo magazine

We started comparing when you said and i quote you

"no matter what turbo you got an M3 isn't going to be far behind in a straight line"

The vid above shows what happens in a straight line with a heavier car

Please be more accurate in what you say. Were you talking 0-60, 0-100, rolling starts?

And i know which one i'd rather be sat in if i wanted the most fun and smiles :D

couple of Racelogic logged times I saw from my way home from Combe yesterday... 30-50mph 2secs, 50-70mph 1.9secs

was playing a little pulling out of junctions car full of spare wheels. wheelspin tastic till I lifted.

Will enjoy having a proper play with the Racelogic GPS logger.
great bit of kit so far.
