Hmmm decisions decisions??

Hi everyone,

At the weekend I test drove the Leon Stylance 140 DSG and the FR TDI 170 both were great, however I have been left in a quandry as to which one I should go for...

With the Stylance I fell in love with the DSG box straight away and found the performance good and the suspension comfortable. With the FR the performance was breathtaking and addictive, the FR looked better inside and out and I was quite surprised as the suspension wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. If the 170 TDI FR had the DSG box I would have placed my order there and then!

Has anyone re-mapped the 140 to the 170? Would a re-map cause any problems with the DSG? I've also read somewhere that the 140 engine is a lot less technical than the 170 and noisier?

Do any Leon drivers have any advice?

I use DSG at the moment, and it's great if you do not care to shift gears your self. I'm personally bored with it (does not feel like racing), and that is one of the main reasons why I'm switcing to Cupra that has performance and no DSG.

You may re-map a car with DSG, the new software (if its any good) does make the changes also to the DSG so that it will work proper with the new performance.

If you look on Jabbasports website for example they limit the torque if remapping a 140 with DSG box whereas they don't with the manual box.

I had the same choices to make, but after driving the dsg for a while I found I was not ready for an auto, also didnt like the surge when you put your foot down abit too much, really didnt feel like i was in total control of the acceleration, I also prefered the look of the fr inside and out and the stock performance should do me fine, there is so much torque that you can leave it in high gear for most driving, so its like a semi auto anyhow
I can leave my st3 in 5th gear at 30 mph with no pinking etc and accelerate fine. So go with your gut feeling or try and book a longer test drive in the dsg car to REALLY see if you prefer it.
