The search button is your friend, Its been coverd hundreds of times mate, The 2 main options are to either locate it under the steering wheels, or the dash can be converted to enable a normal head unit, Hooch from here offers his services to convert the dash for about £70 i think. Hope this helps.

it cost around 300 squid to put the headunit in the roof , plus buyin the headunit so ya prob lookin round the 500 squid mark , also the head lilining was re trimed in black alcantara , so all in all it should a bit more . but i got awicked deal so it not come to that much in total . Also it only takes a day to sort it out

Hi guys,

I spent my weekend driving around different I.C.E. install companies looking to get my headunit relocated. I to am looking at getting the face of my unit located in the roof lining. But one company I went to in west Sussex that I found listed on www.icecavern.co.uk refused to take on the job of relocating a new headunit as the risk of breaking something behind the standard unit was to much of a risk for them to take. So they attempted to try and sell me various different options I have using the standard unit. NOT WHAT I WANT.

Any way I’ve found another place "lethal auto design" in Crawley that will be willing to take on the job of placing the unit face in the roof lining. I’ve been asked if would take them a pic of one already done, so if you don’t mind scotty I’d like to show them a pic of yours.

Depending on the cost this is the way i want to go.

cheers mate. I might just give them a call. But i would like to find someone a bit closer to home. Car Audio Innovations are over 70 miles away from me. But if price was good i'd make that drive.

Thanks again for the use of your Pic.

Hi All,

I have been looking into this (not that I even have a cupra yet.. but I do have near top end alpine HU).

A freind of mine runs a company called ICE Design (ex Sextons installer)... he has done Ibizas before and suggested putting the head unit in the glove box and mounting the face on the inside of the sun visor (he has done this before - infact you can see the results on his site).

Said he would charge less than £200 for the job, obviously you need a headunit that will allow this (the headunit I have has the motorised face so the CD slot stays with the body of it.. err.. if you see what I mean).

I think his site is : www.icedesignuk.com

my mate put his in the sunvisor for £25. it not that hard as i brough all the stuff to do it twith mine, but in the end fitted it in the hole under the steering wheel.

I was just letting people know... I'm sure, if you wanted to do it yourself it wouldn't cost that much to do... just not all of us have the time / patiance / skills to do it.
