Hi,

I am having some grief with my engine at the moment, and one of the possibilities is that the block (1.9 liter PD) is damaged (haircrack type scenario).

I have a baffled sump for my PD130 (1.9) which I definitely want to keep.

Has anyone here dropped a 2.0 block under a 1.9 head or know someone who has?

It might not happen but I am interested in any posts you might have links to on this topic, experiences with it, and a rough costing if you happen to have it.

If the engine is still going wrong after the current set of repairs I will seriously have to consider my options, it could be a matter of swapping in a second hand PD130 engine OR going down this kinda route. The labour will be expensive either way, so looking at options.

Thanks for your help on this :D

If you're thinking of using a 2.0 TDI block I doubt it would work as the latter engines are 16V, whereas the old 1.9s are 8V. I imagined you could have a decent condition 1.9 block bored out if necessary?

have u checked the part numbers of the bare blocks ( 1.9 and 2.0) on ETKA , could be the same thing with just a different stroke to give it the extra 0.1litre

worth a punt ,. could mean you could bolt a 1.9 head onto the 2.0block

easy peasy , more investigation required

You need block 2,0 8V form BGW or BHW engine from Passat. It is only one block 2,0 with place for a inductive sensor for crankshaft. The rest of 2,0 has a place for hall sensor wich is completly different. The head in BGW and BHW is the same as in 1,9.

Not sure how different the older tdi's and the new pd's are.

But is might be worth chatting with Simon Cooper of Central VW Audi. He had a 2.0 tdi 8v TDi (not pd) for a while.

He used that pistons out of the 5 cylinder TDI i believe.

The car will be at APS and is going on the rollers after they're happy it's behaving. Then it should hit a good 200bhp, probably nudging 220ish, based on this turbo & engine combo.

Injectors wise, no news yet, I am not chasing it up too hard though as I'm quite skint right now. I am expecting the new injectors sometime in February though, all going well :)

The EGT sensor/gauge has arrived but I forgot to drop it off @ APS which kinda sux, so that's gonna be a next-phase fit, which hopefully can be arranged soon :)
