well i've got an idea about the stitching on the cars interior! czechboy, i reckon your car is a gti, not cupra, because the gti has sunroof, and won't say cupra anywhere, but... you may have cupra seats in there, as a previous owner may have put them in! and also if its a cupra it will be insurance group 14, and if its the gti it'll be 10, so thats how you'll know:D so its weird but could be the story!

yeah cupra's don't have sunroofs, the gti does though. basically seat made a cupra sport gti bunch of cars, the 8 valve and 16 valve, and then they made a 2.0 16v gti, without the cupra bit, which has a sunroof, and is slightly heavier than the cupras, i read it somwhere, can't remeber where but it might have been a parkers guide thing.

No, I know that the previous owner didnt swap the seats, as its only had one owner, and that was a 36 year old lady, lol.

thewizzard: I've got an LCR splitter at the bottom of the bumper. Or at least did at the time the photo was taken. now had to take it off as I lowered the car. IMO it looks sweet and add that little touch to make is look a bit meaner [B)] And its only about £18 from the SEAT dealers new.

man i want one but i want to lower the beast as well which brings me into another question.. What is the standard ride height on these suckers and how much can i drop it in theory before getting stupid and risking catchin on speedbumps...

im thinking about 30mm maybe 35mm just not sure..

I lowered mine just about 50mm. So now my back tyre is 10mm inside the arch, and the front tyre has a 10mm gap between the arch. DEFINITELLY noticeable that it has been dropped, but superb to live with as a daily driver as well. Can still go over speedbumps and go up multistory carparks, yet the handling round corners has improved soooooo much. Mine is on the limit tho, because if I lower it further 10mm then my front arches catch like mad, and the rear makes some dodgy ass noises.

Thats the best thing about coilovers, you can decide exactly how you want it. Only took me about 3 hours to fit them, but then i spent 8 hours adjusting them, and testing on my favourite roundabout to test out if the wheels catch when cornering hard.

yer im hearing you on the coilovers but the only thing that puts me off is all of the FK range are fixed dampening and thats what is making me look at fixed height but adjustable dampening as i think id rather adjust the stiffness than the height... a compromise would be nice but i dont fancy paying 800smackers for some billys..

Just be a little patient and search around. Especially on Ebay. Got mine for £105 second hand (£550 new). And they are height adjustable (20-120mm), adjustable dampening and fully rebuildable at £30 a corner if anything were to go wrong. (btw mine are made by GAZ, favourites with Mini owners)

I usually see a set of coilovers go on there every week. So for the time being get yourself an LCR splitter for £18, while you are searching/waiting for some coilovers :funk:

the cupra's were more or less a badged up way to clear off the remaining 8/16v base gti's but be wary as Seat Uk had a habit of bringing in cars with whatever bits fitted that the staff driver wanted - seen a leon tdi in yellow and a sat navved cupra with leather in white (original one) so any combination is possible even a 20vt without the turbo but that was a whole different story

well mines a gti 16v cupra sport also so perhaps ive got different seats or perhaps all of you have or maybe did they do a face lift model? mine is P reg which i guess might be an earlier model as i dont have a sunroof or aircon.. :(

if it helps mines built late 97 and regd 98 (common gap in any car) Ibiza copper Gti 16v with sunroof 1/2 leather and a/c and was originally a seat uk car and has same trim as yours too and a lhd twin clock console

http://groups.msn.com/FLAPPERSPLANET/projectibiza.msnw?Page=3 few interior pics here if it helps

theres a grey red zebra style about too and what was called a Cupra2 with said zebra's and red belts just to make it even more confusing :p
