Crashing with TCS off...

If i crashed my car and the TCS button was off, or broke and wouldnt switch back on, would the insurance still pay out?

Cannot see why they wouldn't. If they noticed your mods and they weren't declared they might though.
Is it bad?

I think you might find this is relative to the insurer, themselves. How would they prove you had disabled TCS? You could argue the fact that the TCS and other electronics may have become damaged/faulty in the impact, for a start.

Does your policy stipulate you must drive with TCS enabled at all times? That'd be the deciding factor, I'd assume.

Well it dont matter, my car is getting fixed now anyway just had the call!!!

Thing is, with mine, the TCS button had been broken and was constantly off

I booted my car, yesterday after dropping my g/fs cousin off.. I was pulled over on the left-hand side, began to indicate and a bloke flashed me. He was still moving at some pace to I pulled away quickly.. passenger-side tyre spun on gravel and my TCS light came on... and didn't go away.

I've not got the handbook to hand, at the moment, otherwise I'd check myself. The light did go off once I'd turned the car off and on again. Any reason why the light would persist after one single spin? :S Is this normal? It had me worried! Seeing as the topic has popped up, I thought I'd ask.

Should just flash once and go back off, unless you press the switch near the handbrake and disable it

Well, I'd not disabled it at the time. From what I read in the book, you're right. It's supposed to flash while dodginess is going on, and then cease when it's stopped cutting in. So what the hell?! :< Better not be faulty TCS!

i always turn mine off if im driving fast because its crap and it holds the car back too much all the time and has a habbit of kind of having a spasm and stopping from accelerating for a second or 2 after when no where near doing wheel spin!

If you didn't spin the wheels in the first place, the TCS wouldn't be an issue

i had this after my car went on the rollers last july. i got rid of it by accelerating quickly and then stamping on the anchors!

Dodgy yaw/pitch/roll sensor or something, then? :S Little scary though, 4 days after getting it to have your first warning light show its face.

My TCS light on my old LC came on and stayed on after it was on a ramp having some work done. Apparently, this can happen from time to time. The dealer had to reset something to get rid of it.
