I was looking at buying a VW flip key and cutting the blade etc and recoding it, so i started to read up on it, now i found a problem in the plan...

To recode the new key you need to lock the car and have another key in the ignition... my problem is..

I DELOCKED THE DRIVERS SIDE....

Now is it possible to still recode it or is it simply impossible now the car is delocked?

Any help people

Is it not worth putting the old lock barrel back in just to recode?. I know the metal disc might be tricky to remove but it has been done.

Yeah well i was thinking that, but that metal disc is going to be a absolute bugger to remove...its meant to be that way... DOH!

Have to have a go i guess...do you know who did it, see if i can get a pointer on how he/she did it, save me losing all feeling to my fingers in this weather...

I thought Pabs mentioned once he'd reversed it but I'm sure someone will be along shortly who has :)

you thought about trying to code it using the lock button on the inside of the door, could be a long shot but might work

Hmmm.... good idea, need a SEAT tech to verify that fact.... any SEAT TECHS around....???

Otherwise Pabs is going to get a PM very soon!

The manual is specific about recoding the key. I doubt it would work from the inside.

You also got the transponder out of a spare key or a new on with the VW key?

Becareful removing it  . Mine was bonded/glued in and although intact and very carefully removed I think I may have damaged it and it wasn't coded on the first try. However I managed to buy two new transponders off someone on here. I didn't try the second time and just used a new one.
