New brakes all round

Just had an expensive day. Got the timing belt and tensioner done, got tracking done, brake fluid change and had Lucas discs and Pagid pads fitted all round.

However, I've only done about 5 miles going home but I can't really notice the difference from my old standard set up (maybe even a bit softer). The last pads and discs weren't completely burned out just badly corroded.

My question is, how long does it take for new pads and discs to bed in? when should I start to notice an improvement?

I would guess 200 to 400 miles depending on where you drive, it's nearer 200 for me because of all the roundabouts. Use them normally, just avoid prolonged heavy braking.

I would have thought you'd begin to notice after 50 miles tbh. I think that's when i felt mine had started to work properly.

i don't wanna know as mine are due in about 3months, but does give time to save.
Any recommendations on brands if not going seat way with these?

Well I'll be phoning round for quotes for a 60k service soon.. Thinking of JKM if I keep the car, but also Meadens Seat as I'm looking at getting rid of the car due to a new job. Train and a new toy on the driveway

I would recommend the EBC yellow Stuff Pads. I have them and there sensational.

Thanks for the replies - that's good to hear that they should improve.

Total cost was pretty good actually. Got it done at the local garage for £455 all in. I know the guy at the garage (went to school with my best mate so I know he's done the job propery - he even fixed a few things gratis that the dealer never done at the 40k service like them over filling the oil! )

timing belt alone was £150 but after I heard it was the sooner of 60k and 4 years I thought better safe than sorry even though I'm only at 25k miles.

He told me that Lucas make the OEM discs and to just to go for them rather than sourcing them from a dealer.
