Dp & cat options

Hi all.

Currently my car has K03s with all the goodies.
The exhaust is an A&M 3" dp with 100cel cat which goes into a 2.5" Scorpion cat-back exhaust.

The cat is fooked and needs replacing.

I know Blueflame do a 3" dp (or is it 2.75"?). But from what I can gather from other posts, I may have problems mating this up to the Scorpion exhaust. Does this mean that I'd have to buy the whole system, not just the dp?

For obvious reasons, I'd rather just change the dp, but if it's a case of having to buy the whole system then so be it.

Are there any other options I should consider and what sort of price am I looking at?

Ta.

the A&M one is made by blueflame i believe buddy

the milltek option isnt cheap (circa £300) and is 2.5" bore but that's more than enough and should mate to the existing catback nicely

ah right yeah i know Z-ex exhausts...wouldn't have work done there myself personally but they could probably chop out the old cat and weld in a new one as they're a custom exhaust place...if you were interested in that might be cheaper, but any custom place could do that i guess

other than blueflame then and milltek iv not heard of any other viable options available

From what I can remember, there's no stamp marking on the dp I'm afraid mate.
From what I can gather, A&M used Z-Ex initially then changed manufactures for some reason. Don't know if this was due to quality issues or for some other reason. I know Z-Ex fabricated one of the dp's in reverse which was due to go on a friends car and that caused all sorts of problems, so it may have been something to do with that, who knows.

Acid; not sure I'd want to go back there to have a new cat welded in TBH and the idea of going to powerflow or someone like that sends a shiver down my spine.

Is it really true that you can't use a Blueflame dp in conjunction with another exhaust system?

Also, is the Miltek dp 3"?

Just some stuff I've read off here where a few peeps have encountered problems. I think BF themselves may have stated that was the case.

Does it really make any difference between say a 2.5" dp and 3"?
A&M used to swear by a 3" dp.

This is a paragraph I've copied and pasted from another post re: Blueflame products.

'When purchasing Blue Flame products you have to buy all the parts
that are listed for your car, this meaning you would have to buy the Full
Motorsport Catalytic Convertor and Downpipe, the Centre Silencer and the
back box. This is due to Blue Flame parts only fitting onto Blue Flame
parts and not any other manufacturers as the fittings are different.'

So I take it that's complete tosh?

hmmm cant comment, would hate to be the cause of further grief to you

guess if they stuck a flange at each end that could be the case, cant remember but im sure the milltek was just a slide in fitment? anyone back me up on this?

Cheers David.

At the moment it seems my only option is the Miltek.

I think I may get in touch with BF just to see if they can do anything for me. Would be nice to have more than 1 option.

Its complete rubbish, you were quoting my post from when i got in touch with need4speed, who were obviously just trying to get more money out of me. Having been on the phone with nige from blueflame and ordering a d/p and sports cat for my scorpion cat back i know it'll fit, as blueflame are made to fit the factory standard parts which my scorpion also does.
£296 is a good price, they are selling them at 25% trade discount apparantly but I ordered from blueflame direct who also matched that minus a little bit (£285)
Should arrive tommorrow!

the blue flame dp will deffo fit the scorpion cat back system as that's what im running on mine

required a small mod meaning i had to cut the reducer that connects the scorpion centre box to the bf cat as they we're different sizes and then sleeve them with a 65mm sleeve from an lcr

oh ffs
so it is going to need some adjusting then, what exactly do I need? Im not fitting it so need it sorted or its a waste of time booking it into the garage
cheers

Nige said that it goes down to 2.5' which is what the scorpion cat back is, i dont really get why it needs modding?

the bf downpipe reduces to 2.5" at the end but the scorpion (well atleast my one) reduces from 2.5" to 2 1/4" might even be 2" to join with the standard cat

i just cut the reducer part of the scorpion so i was left with two 2.5" ends and sleeved them like the factory system usually is, just need to order up a lcr rear exhaust sleeve to join the two

hope that makes sense
