IHI? would be fitting high flow manifold and some other extra bits if i went fot the phase 2 would be looking at more than 235bhp surely!

The problem is the turbo just cant produce enough boost after 235bhp sure you would be able to squeeze a little here and there but the money you would spend doing this and getting 5 to 10 bhp increase MAX is just not worth it equal length mani £900 approx. for a k03s the sums just dont work out to me in my eyes.

if i uprated the fpr to 4bar and the fuel pump to 4bar with 310cc injectors high flow manifold gotta be looking at the 240-250 region with the CC remap to the cars mods. am wanting big power but to get the jbs04 turbo upgrade clutch will need uprating injector manifold maf sensor ect will the bill will come to about £4000 and for a maximum of 300bhp it not all the good for your money and the next stage up from the jbs04 is 10,000 :(

I know thats why IHI your not going to increase the the old lbft by silly levels so it is easyer on the internals and clutch.

quote Bill
"VF34 IHI within boundries is a nice package IMHO. Ask too much of it and it may have issues on bearings/exhaust housings. Its transient responce is faster than the equivalent GT28, but the GT28 is a "beefier" unit, bigger shafts, bearings etc, but with the bigger some added inertia above that of a VF34.

If planning steps for upgrade, then from VF34 you are into hybrids to mount onto your existing "other" equipment (mani, DP etc) and IHI hybrids are not as widely available or understood compared to garretts.

low 300's VF34 fine. reliable high 300's, then not from VF34 IMHO without running into its "reliability margin", and available space in the installation, under the exhaust mani is very limited for bigger housings etc.

Once done however, you would have a solid 300+bhp, sustained power delivery to over 7K starting from 3.5K, and acceleration terms, using my original ibiza's times, were 5s to 60, and 10.5s to 100mph and 160mph+ (from ~320bhp/280lbft)

If you are considering this as part of an upgrade path, then beyond this, rods/pistons (perhaps), and bigger turbo again, BUT this is where the decision for a JS based VF34 conversion may limit other available upgrades. I went thru the same thing myself and opted to go no compromise, and start over, new equal length mani etc, and have'nt looked back since. ( equal length mani for IHI based fitment turbo's so would also work on VF34 no problem.)-price being higher tho."

its 350 dollars and is used with every big turbo upgrade as there was no previous egual length manifold and its alot beter than the standard one. and to be honest i dont think you can fit an equal length manifold in the mk4 engine bay with out moving the engine no room behind like the mk3

Sorry gaz you missed my point I wasn’t having a go I was trying to say that on its own what is the point ? I have sat down and thought about doing it my self but at the end of the day the increase you get would be about worth.
the problem is that we have reached the maximum potential of the K03s and if we want to get any gains its gonna cost us i dont see the point of pi$$in good money away for very little return I would sooner save and pi$$ more money away and get something from it

yes i see your point would get the manifold if i was deffo going for the big turbo in the near future but not if i was staying with the ko3s

The only thing i have'nt heard any of you say is Nitrous.

When i had these very same discussions with JBS years ago when i got to the end of tuning pssibilities on my FR this kept coming up, £1000 for a full on progressor kit with an extra 75 bhp shot.

So nobody gonna give it a go. 300bhp when you need it sounds fun.

not intrested in NoS as the bottle would need topping up would prefer to have 300bhp all the time :D just been thinking what sort of power i would be pushing out with the jbs04 turbo but with just the mods i already have apart from a 4bar fpr -£40 and a 4barfuel pump £162 310cc injectors_£339
i pritty much have all the mods in the list apart from injectors, 3"maf (not available), tip-(in production), so would be spending about £2000 fully fitted would be looking about 250bhp and could buy the other upgrades like manifold maf and tip at a later date  be saving £2000 doing it that way with only 30bhp less

Need an ID-ten-T form
3" MAF is available Leon Cupra R/S3. But don't think the bonnet will fully close with it on then you'd need an induction kit to fit the larger MAF. Then the Forge TIP that is in production wouldn't fit the 3" MAF therefore you'd have to buy the Leon Cupra R's TIP that fits to a K04. Question is; is the other end of the TIP going to fit onto a K03s?

I believe that the injectors are good for 300bhp, I've asked the same question. Most people said go for the JABBA rear ARB, Coilovers (you've already got) and some spacers (again... you've already got). After this is all done, think I'll just leave it because after you've put a bigger turbo on and the rest of the gadgets don't think you'll get much of a return when you come to sell it. Have you noticed the people selling their Cupra/FR's are reverting them back to standard to sell on!

I'm in the same dilemma, but love the mk4, might ended up going for 4wd then again might just finish of the sound system. I don't think 2wd where intended for 300+ bhp. Getting all that power down to the ground, would be thinking of LSD, new clutch.

When I boot mine seems like the TC light is constantly on even in 3rd/4th.

Just my 50p’s worth.

P.S Rashcupra have you modified the bracket on your Cupra like you have shown in the drawings?

yer i modded the braket like in pics and has worked a treat just on lunch at work at tyhe mo but will be sorting out the blowing noise after work! this bracket is obviously needed and cant just hack it off because 1 it would be a M.O.T failure and 2 wont be supposted correctly and could ware on the axle buses! are you thinking on doing this to yours then???

leon cupra r maf sensor doesnt fit! and jbs where thinking of using the pd160 airbox lid and maf as it is larger! the tip for the ibiza mk4 cupra is being made now apparantly!
