Pull off the panel below the steering wheel to reveal all the fuses the VAG-COM connection is the pink block sitting above them. You can't miss it.

Did have a picture somewhere, can't find it though

cables are £30 for serial and £40 for usb - check if you uve got a serial port on the back of your laptop - if you havnt then get the usb one - dont get the serial and a convertor (serial to usb) as VAG COM wont like it and wont read engine -

I got mine from ross tech website -

ill get a usb cable are you sure the odb11 will be the right one for my car? i know you guys are normally pretty well informed but just like to double check, its a 2001 cupra 20vt (i dread to think what problems vagcom will show up as im sure i dont have the power i should i can just sbout get 130 out of it and thats a bit of a struggle, my mate reckons he gets 150 and his is standard like mine (although i do have great big 18" alloys not sure how much difference that would make though.

apologies, try this website - this is where i brought my cable from http://www.gendan.co.uk
Give them a call - they will reassure you - as they did me, as i was having simular doubts -
i believe different size wheels do effect performance, but wouldnt think by loads -

might not show up any problems, 18s are quite a difference, 150mph on the clocks in standard trim i cant see it really, i think i saw 140 when mine was stock, but that would have been on a strip!

well i only have his word for it so he could be telling porkys about the 150, so my 135 sounds about right does it? would the 18's also make for slower acceleration? oh and just to make it clear i only ever use "private" roads when hitting that kind of speed. :)

i wouldnt imagine it effects your accelration - best bet is to plug in vag com and see if your getting any errors which may be holding back your performance - if any -

and remember, people tend to add a little extra to their stats when it gets competitive -
