Hiya all,

I have a mk3 ibiza cupra in the ovi yellow. After decieding to get some smoothing done i thought it would be best to get the whole car resprayed as the onvi yellow is a hard colour to match.

Now im very particular about my cars aperance and i have a keen eye for detail.

Now ive been using meguirs for years now but with me spending allot on new paint i want some really good products now.

If anyone could post up some good products. I want it to be perfect.

If its new paint, its not polish you want, its apure wax.

A pure wax will not contain any abrasives and so will not harm the new paint.

Which pure wax will come down to personal taste, here's a starting list:
Nattys
Nattys Blue
DP Max Wax
Chemical Guys XXX
P21s
Souveran
and so on.....

Any of these will do the job more than well, personally I would choose between DP Max Wax, P21s and CG XXX

Yeah u, just need to get all new treatment so i can make the car look really good this show season.

Just seeing what people would recomed if i was to throw away all my old car cleaning products and start again.

Eg which shampoo, wheel cleaner, polish, wax , sealer. And which applicators?

I've used alot of different Car Shampoo's

The one i'm liking the best is Carlack 68 Shampoo, really luby and plenty of suds and it's good value too which is a handy.

Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II is also a good Shampoo and smells of Cherries which is a bonus!!

For cleaning wheels i use All Pupose Ceaner and Detailing Clay, but for really stubborn Grime Meguiars Wheel Brightner is one of the best out there, but is acidic so you've got be careful :)

I assume your lookinf for a Polish to use by hand, in that case Autoglym Super Resin is a very good product by hand and topped of with a couple of coats of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. You'll have a great shine with decent protection too

For App pads i've prefer the Microfibre ones as apposed to the Foam discs, maybe it's a personal thing, I prefer the Microbre Pads as they are thicker and easier to hold :)

Hope that helps

Hey Kieran ive just got into cleaning my car as well as one of my mates is a detailer and with his car always being clean you gotta try and keep up lol.

I use the megs gold class shampoo with bucket and wash mit and dry with waffle weave towel. For polish i use auto glym sp (t hides swirls well), then klasse sealant glaze then either p21s or chemical guys xxx wax (both excellent). I use the microfibre pads as well and microfibre cloths to remove.

Hope this helps, i'm a newbie to it too!

I don't think Tyler is saying otherwise mate. But the fact is SRP and EGP are a very good product combination when applying by hand based on ease of use, results and value for money. SRP has a light cut and is full of fillers, helping to mask some of the swirls and scratches. EGP is a durable sealant (although picky about what it will bond to), when used properly and applied in a couple of layers it will give a nice deep crisp reflection.

The real answer is to get the paint defects removed by machine polishing and then protect the paint and treat it properly. Or in the case of a repsray, just protect and maintain.

And as Iain says, on new paintwork check with the people that paint it how long it should be left before sealing. If its been baked then it should be fine straight away, but otherwise sealing can prevent the paint fully curing - a pure wax is what will be needed to protect.

I wasn't saying they where the best products out there!! But if you haven't got a Machine Polisher, the best hand polish imo for hiding swirls is Autoglym SRP.

Then being logical i advise Extra Gloss Protection because it's picky about how well it bonds, SRP being a Autoglym product, they both work well together :)

Obviusly there are better products around.

If you looking mearly to maintain and Protect, then I think BlackFire Wet Diamond Paint Protection topped with a layer of Colinite 476 or 915, if yourfeeling fancy, is one of the more durable combos areound :)

Hi gys

Popped into seat yesterday and told them about my. They said they do an autoglym pack for new paint?

Rang auto glym and asked what it was and she said i could just go away and polish it like normal so long as its been baked. After some arguing from me saying im not polishing my car a day after i get it back, just want to protect it she said the super gloss polish as its no abrasive?

I was recomended to seal and wax the paintwork but after a conversation with meguirs on there opinions they said to leave it for 60 days min? They said not to wax or seal new paint as it could send it blotchy???

Im lost???????????????

On new paint, if its been baked I'd recommend only applying a wax for the first 2 weeks, after this you can apply anything you like. If however it wasn't baked then it needs 6 weeks of just wax.

On the AG SRP, it contains abrasives and sealants so I wouldn't go near that till the above has passed. With Megs again forget their sealants as per above, but their glazes and waxes are OK as long as not their NXT range (contains sealants).

Hope this helps
