What a lovely car - seriously lovin the orange colour aswell!

same here - but every tw4t is gonna think its a new focus at first glance

in the second picture it looks similar to a focus st, i don't think the colour helps though. i wouldn't say no to one!

sorry karlos - didnt read all the way down

It looks nice from the front, the interior looks lovely, very audi, but the colour, wheels and back are pants. For 30k there are other cars 7-10k less which are just as nice imo. New Cupra, Mazda MPS, Evo, Impreza with equal performance, you pay a lot for the audi brand.

My best mate is the service manager at an audi dealership so ill sort me a drive out ;)

TBH they are well overpriced. Almost running to the kind of money you'd expect to pay for an RS3 rather than an S3 (if one existed).

One of the saving graces is at least there won't be too many of them about at that price so hopefully residuals will hold. If you look at the Audi approved used car site they are prepping the demo cars for sale at literally RRP.

Well i've just dropped it off..   .. Honestly guys.. What a car! Ended up having one last blast in it last night for about an hour and I stuck some 99ron fuel in it as i reckon they were running it on 95 ron. OH MY GOD what a difference! My mate in his Modded Teg had a go with me last night and ended up with egg on his face.. Much to my suprise! :-o I was expecting it to be quite even stevens, but not the case. In fact I would seriously put it along side mine in performance terms. Unless it's just a good example.. (god knows what a remapped one will be like)
But on the whole, I loved the experience of the car. Especially the interior. It was just such a nice place to sit. When I got back in mine this morning, it made it look like i'd just got into a 1982 Datsun Cherry.. lol
Anyway guys, I would seriously recommend going out for a test drive in one and would be interested in hear other peoples opinions. Plus if you live near Lincoln, go in to Lincoln Audi. You'll struggle to get better service IMO!

Colour looks good. Is that £30k with the options? Agree bout the wheels - are they standard or is there another choice - look bit p1ss poor.

Yes mate, they are £26,950 IIRC new. This one had Sat Nav, heated seats and a few other little bits. So was around the £30k mark.. Alot of money, but alot of car IMO..
On the wheels.. There is a couple of other options on the wheels. But alot of people are going for the RS4 19's from what I gather.. Now that would look lush! :D

That would be the perfect car-wheel combination IMO. Not entirely original, but damn nice looking!

one of the guys at Audi who takes the traning cars to dealers said they tried a car on 19"s but it ruined the ride and unsettled the car, but I have to say its begging for them. 18's look too small.

Glad also to hear that you think its performance is up to scratch. With a 310bhp / 400Nm map it should fly.

30k for what it is though, christ.

Theres a LOT you could get for less!
But I do admit, the S3s look and feel like something a little different. Big thumbs up -shame about the price.

Just been speaking to a fella at work, big Impreza fan. Admin at the P1 owners club. Talking about the S3. There are a couple of Prodrive 1 Imprezas on his For Sale section atm, one for just under 11k and the other 15. You could buy both and still have change, for the money this S3 costs :S

That's a crazy thought. Fleet of P1s for the same cash as a S3..

So I guess the £27k base price S3 is without paint on the panels, seats, wheels....that kind of thing??

The options list on the S3 is pretty crap TBH. Everything costs extra other than the Xenons which come for free.

Metallic Paint £400
Folding heated mirrors / dimming £300
Flat bottomed wheel £350
Bose upgrade £300 odd
Head unit upgrade £265
Bluetooth phone £500
Satnav £700 or £2100
Trick seats £1600
Interior lighting pack £100
Rear 12v socket £70
Rear armrest with loadthru hatch £180
Adaptive bi-xenons addition £300
iPod connector £175
CD m/c £350
Electric lumbars £200+

One option which is missing is electric memory seats. I wanted this as me & the missus have driving positions like chalk and cheese. Her position: Cruella De Ville (head on the roof sat over the steering wheel), me (Bob Marley - layed back on the floor).

Simple solution - Don't let her drive it ;)

What's the difference between the two Sat Nav's? Does one tell you where to go and the other actually drive you there itself? For £2100 I think that's the least it could do!

The £2100 version has full colour screen and supports a TV module (for another £700). The £700 version only has on screen narrative (in red / black text), and pointer arrows that come up in the drivers information system.

You can only have either: a cd multichanger OR an iPod connection with the sat nav head units. Not both options. However the colour satnav does have 2 SD media card ports behind the drop down screen.

The colour satnav with CD m/c, bose upgrade, and TV upgrade would cost the best part of £3.5k. I think thats criminal.

That's an astonishing amount of money for something that would cost a third of that if you go with aftermarket parts!

Cheers for the info though, certainly an eye opener!

Oh, feel free to tell me to mind my own business... but what options have you gone for?

I'd be interested to see how the new S3 stacks up against the MkV R32 as they are both prestige hot hatches. I'm not a huge fan of the current golf but you could save yourself £5k compared to an S3 and I've heard they are very good cars. If nothing else the sound of that V6 will put more of a smile on your face than the turbo lump in the S3.

Slightly off topic but was looking at the spec of the R32 on the VW website and noticed this is coming out later in the year, looks a ton better than a standard GTi IMO.
