Blueflame downpipe and cat fitting

Just bought one of these turbo back systems today and im going to have ago at fitting tomorrow :)

I remember seeing a post about the bolts connecting the dp needing to be soaked in wd40 as there usually tight, has anyone any more tips or whats needed for the jobs. cheers steve

if you spray some wd-40 on for a few days before you try to loosen the nuts they should come off easy (mine did anyway) and to make getting at the nuts easier use a wobble bar as it would be hard as hell to get a straight bar on the d/p nuts

a standard turbo to d/p gasket will fit no problem. The flanges are the same size.

what catback system are you fitting it to?

Hehe! Did this over christmas!

Loads fo WD40 on the studs, bottom stud is 17mm other 3 are 16mm

Apart from a standard toolkit, you'll need..

- Turbo to DP Gasket (had to order mine from Seat / VW dealership but are rare to be on the shelf, call all the local VW / Audi / Seat dealers in the area with the part number)

- I also ordered 2 studs, the 4 bolts and washers "Just in case" as they're not on the shelf either

- Stubby 16mm and 17mm Spanners (can buy from Halfords and will save you **** loads of time!)

It's not really a problem taking it off, but as the reviews state, the DP is MAHOOSIVE! So the angles tightening it up aren't friendly!

My advice would be (if your sig is accurate) to fit the turbo whilst your at it, as the DP basiclly is gonna be 45min to an hours job to take off with all the stupid frustrating angles you have to work at - then you'll have to plum it up back up again. My knuckles are all cut up from the heatsheild so it's a job I won't be doing again in a hurry!

Just been down and picked up my exhaust gasket from vw so thats sorted, i was going to fit the dp and turbo together but when i had my blueflame cat back fitted on friday i wasnt given a reducer so the garage had to get it on the best they could, so i thought i would get the downpipe now and probably forget about the turbo until mine blows, plus where my cat back meets my standard cat its blowing like hell so the new dp is a must really

Just finished fitting the system after 2 days of fixing problems the other garage made and what a difference it has made im well impressed :D

Just one question tho do you get an increase of turbo noise when the dp and cats been fitted ?

Just want to make sure i havent got a leak when under load as i checked it for leaks at idle and all seemed fine

So is this an easy job to do on axle stands/wheel ramps or trolley jack.

As thats all i have and i hope the angle are not to bad when removing the downpipe.

Is it easier to remove the turbo with downpipe still attached? Then fit the ko3s with new downpipe?

Or seperate everything.

I was under the car thinking to myself this is going to be a pain going through all this again when I get my new turbo

I only had the car on axle stands when I changed my FYI

I found fitting the downpipe was the easy part it was just the lack of room accessing the bolts that was the pain

but make sure you replace the dp gasket aswell, i picked one up from vw for about £2.50

Yep i will do but i have afew other things to do first im thinking about the k03s but in 2 minds on wether it will give me a good enough gain for £200 (cost of the turbo)

Just bought some brembo's and i need to buy all the pipework and stuff for my forge intercooler

imo for £200 it's worth it as long as that price doesn't rocket once you add fitting etc then mapping - I've seen what a Jabba'd Ko3s can do and was well impressed...

I have a revo stage 2 map mate so that should run the k03s fine

Once the other stuffs out of the way ill take alook at the k03s root but need to get the car running right first as im having boost problems at the minute so i need to sort that out
