Anybody here with an ATP BT Conversion?

Hi all,

Just looking into BT conversions... and the ATP seems quite popular and possibly easier to do than an IHI.?

Please tell us about your experiences and costs involved please.

Well they don;t just do the eliminator at ATP but anyway

The issue has been can you get an Eliminator kit to fit RHD applications?.....some people have achieved it although it's not straight forward in all cases.

I think people have had issues with TIP fitment, gearbox linkage clashes and down pipe routing......not as simple as the LHD cars which it was designed for.

Obviously though it 'is' possible as Jonah's kit is being fitted, Robdon had his a while back and a couple of Ibizas have the kit too

Assumption is the mother of all fcuk ups, ive been there! ach its only a tip, how hard can it be to fit with basic tools and no light.....der der dahhhhh!

Not sure for the money a 2x would be worth it on an LCR :shrug:

The first thread said ATP vs IHI so I made the assumption he must be looking at 360 bhp target

So probably 2871R or similar

Please accept my apology, Steve. I did not assume LCR when I quoted your post.

No worries forums are the place to debate things and the initial question wasn;t specific, just mine and your assumptions. Your right a GT2x is 'meant to be' fairly simple....if it does give a solid 290bhp it's still a good swap

Brake pads and disks are about the level of my own abilities though ;)

I'd be really interested to hear your experience of how hard it is to fit a GTRS Eliminator. (I've recently self-fitted an ATP exhaust manifold).

the manis are not that hard, if you are fitting to std turbo. just use a combination of a bent spanner and offset ring spanners and a streight spanner for the top 6 nuts only

for the other lot just use the std nuts and washers as i think they are better quality.

What about fitting the GTRS eliminator though...............?

grind the bottom left of the mani and make the thickness a bit thinner by about 3mm

grind the redundent eye on the transmition, this allows the inlet casting to set more flush

remove the bracket on the block which hold the speedo wire in place.

smack with a hammer the 3mm of the gasket that sticks out betwean the block and the gear box, this allows the compressor to swing round closer to the block.

remember to put the closest to the block mani to turbo bolt, before you bolt up the manifold, also remember to tighten the 6 top nuts of the mani in first before the rest of them.

user liquid ptfe on every joint for the oil and coolant, but not the banjos!

its fairly easy to tackle all them tasks, its just a pain in the ass when you are stressed out to remove stuff you have allready done.

well when you attach the turbo to the mani the comp will touch it a bit this stopping the turbo to properly be bolted to the mani.

so grind it up right befor the hole and grind it so that the thickness is thinner. this gives even more room when you go to fit the turbo to mani. see pic:

well i would guess you would ya!!! but try with out first!! there isnt any point if for what ever reason it fits for you with out any modding!

if you are going GTRS im sure you will have to grind,

if its the gt2x then you should get away with it!
