Hi there,

Just joined and I am looking at buying a new Ibiza 1.4 Dab special edition.
I was just wondering who has one and If they like it or not.
Also is it only an IPOD you can connect to the stereo or will it accept any MP3 player?
Do you need a special lead etc?

Thanks.

Norrie.

the dab has a 3.5mm input jack by the handbrake so you can plug any audio kit into it mate

you just need a £2.50 audio lead that is male at both ends

Got my Dab in September. Great little car. Mines a black 3 door.
100 Bhp 1.4 engine is good. Not exactly fast but holds it's own on the motorway on my commute betreen Derby and York (Long Story).
I-link is an Ipod only thing. Must admit i hadn't noticed the Jack by the handbreak must check that out.
Just brought it at the wrong time. 3 door with a little-en on the way and the commute:(

I think you are mistaken by the jack plug by handbrake, i dont have one ,only a i pod connection in glove box, then again i could be wrong as i have never looked at another dab. Anyway have had ours about 4weeks great value for money, a little slow at low revs, awful throttle responce, bad road noise, bad lights and i thought it was the drab edition due to the drab dashboard oh you cant see the stereo display because its so low and has no angle adjustment and no rear speakers (a total joke), interior plastics you just have to look at and they scratch oh and fuel consumption is worse than my evo7 .But get chrome/ali interior trim kits, upgrade your headlight bulbs turn the stereo up after you have fitted rear speakers, keep the revs over 3000 and its all;)

If you look at first post he is looking at the dab model , the dab is fitted with a blaupunkt head unit, the thread seems to talk about 07 pre order cars and options on frs ect, i am pretty sure all 06 dabs do not have this option.

Just had a look in my Ibiza DAB and I don't think there is an input plug by the handbrake, just an IPod connection in the glove box.

If you wanted to use a non-Ipod MP3 player with the stereo you could purchase a Blaupunkt adaptor lead which connects an external source to the AUX2 interface of the stereo. However you would have to take the stereo out to fit this and I suppose this would replace the IPod lead.

You can also adjust the display brightness and the viewing angle.

From reading other threads I think the 07 DAB models may come instead with an aux-in connection instead of the IPod lead.

I was also wondering what's the cheapest you can buy one for.
I was looking at a pre registered one at Arnold Clark for £8000 and can get a brand new one for £8450.
That is for a straight deal no trade in etc.

Thanks.

Norrie.

ok so do the later dab's have both then?

I'm not really sure as I've only seen the later DAB's described on the forum.

It might just be that they have a aux-in connector in the glove box instead of the I-Pod connection!

how do you adjust the angle of the head unit mine (i mean the wifes) has brightness adjustment but i cant seem to set it so you can read the display without having to duck down to see the display clearly, the i pod connector fits in the cd multi changer section on the rear or the unit so i should think it a easy job to plug in a din adaptor unless someone does a ipod to din?

If you are talking about the standard Blaupunkt unit on the Ibiza DAB, the instructions for this are on Page 125 of the Blaupunkt handbook. Under 'adjusting the viewing angle' it describes how you need to go to the Display Menu option and then press the up or down buttons repeatedly until 'angle' appears and then use the left or right buttons to adjust the viewing angle.

Does any1 actually use the ipod with there dab? I prefer just to put all my music on my mmc sd card. Also does any1 think it would mess up my dab reception if i put a beesting aerial on?

So does the stereo accept an SD memory card then?

Thanks.

Norrie.

Yes the Ibiza 1.4 DAB stereo system does accept an SD/MMC card to play MP3's and it can also record from DAB stations as well!! It also plays CD's which have MP3 files on them.

I prefer to use both of these methods to play music rather than use an I-Pod as its quicker and easier and the song title gets displayed on the stereo! The I-Pod connection can be a bit fiddly to use.

However there is a limit to how many files can be stored on a CD and the SD card has to be formatted in FAT 16 which I think can only hold up to 2 GB. Obviously some I-Pods can hold up to 80GB and have more advanced playlist options so this is better for a longer journey!!
