Hey guys,

Just noticed this last week or so that my clutch is biting near the top of the pedal travel, slightly worrying as the cars only done 4600 miles on a 55 plate. Arent all these clutches hydraulic with auto-adjustment on them?

Just another complaint of the car to add to the list!

Any advice or help is appreciated, just dont fancy yet ANOTHER trip to the stealers (5th time since August)

Cheers

going back to my old mk3

they had a problem with clutch master cylinders and the pedal used to drop overnight and all was good if you lifted the pedal back to it's proper place

could be that you have air in the system, if so normally a good pumping of the pedal will bring the air to the top of the reservoir

if you have a pd130 tdi and you ride the clutch a bit you may have a spent clutch as they are on the limit of the engine torque output

has your pedal drooped or your biting point raised?

Hey, thanks for the reply..

The biting point has risen to just about the top. Its the 20VT petrol and I never ride the clutch. I never really hammer it (maybe a few times in 2nd or 3rd), and I never pull away with like 3000rpm on (im not that daft). I always use the handbrake when waiting at lights on a hill etc I just cant understand it at all..

Its just a bog standard FR (no performance enhancements at all). Is it going to be a call to the dealers again?

Cheers

well maybe it needs the self adjuster mech looking at or just a good bleed of the system

like you say add it to your list of stuff to get done under warranty

good luck!

Did u get it looked at? Was it clutch wear or the linkage mechanism adjustment being wrong?

Cheers

The 1.8T clutch should be no problem.

I did 42000 miles in 18 months in my old 1.8T FR and that was running 230 bhp, and i never had one bit of trouble with the clutch.

If its like that on a standard FR take it back and get a new one on warranty. PS if you have been riding th clutch and telling fibs though, they will be able to tell ( just to warn you)

Nah, I seriously aint been riding the clutch. Im not that stupid, I know what sort of damage it does to the clutch.

Im gonna ring them today or tomorrow and get it sorted out...

Just rang them now, apparantly its not covered under teh warranty after 6 months so it will now cost at least £350 to fix if they find it to be knackered. I might aswell sell this car, its one thing after a bloody other...

Got it looked at this morning, and apparantly all the Ibizas are the same. No leaks and no clutch wear so there is nothing to worry about there.

It just feels completely different to what it did 2 months ago. Probably just bedding in properly now. Oh well!

in the small print of your warranty it will say that the clutch friction disk is pretty much not covered unless the rivets all drop out on day 1

also the warranty does not cover ANY adjustments to the car
