I know this has been covered before but with the search I couldn't get a definate answer....
I've been getting about 32-35mpg average on my 1.4 75ps petrol - is this normal? It seems a bit low to me as the Parkers average MPG figure is 42 for this model.
The petrol light comes on at about 270-290miles (250 if I'm really unlucky!)- I heard someone say that they'd done 350 miles on a tank but even when I've had long journeys at motorway speeds I've only managed 320.
I haven't got a trip computer so I've been working it out from miles travelled and litres put in - and yes that is miles per imperial gallon not US gallon.
I checked the tyres and getting them to the correct pressures helped things a bit (from the 250 mile petrol light up to 270 +ish!!)
My driving I admit is sometimes held up in traffic (about 30-50% of the time) and sometimes revving hard (have to with the 75ps!) but does include some cruising at about 60-80ish depending on traffic volume (and my mood) and I'm not constantly caning it.
Opinions?? And please no " I get 100mpg from my diesel cupra....!!!" as that won't help me decide if there's something not right with my car !! Thanks - opinions of people with similar cars are welcome!!!
