Picked Up my new cupra.....

Hi All,

Picked up my Ibiza Cupra yesterday. All fine for the first day. Then I took it to 2modified to have a revo stage 1 and forge DV fitted. However before revo could start the map my car would start.

I believe that it is an ignition switch fault, as no power is getting to the starter motor.

If anyone else has had ingition switch problems please can they post what they did to sort it out. Price, time to fix etc.

On the brighter side apart from currently only being able to start the car by bump starting it, it is an amazing car. So much faster that I ever expected and that is without the revo.

Hopefully get the ignition swich fault sorted Mon/Tue and then can go back to 2modified and get the revo and DV sorted. I must say 2modified are extremely helpful and would recommend to all.

Cheers
Chris

Hi my ignition switch failed also had no power to starter motor.
When i checked it out the price for the ignition switch is about £15-20 but you need to remove: the airbag, steering wheel, steering column lock (however to remove this you need a special tool from seat). The dealer wanted around £150 to fix it.

SOLUTION !!!!
Get someone who knows about cars and wiring. Remove dash trim panel underneath the steering wheel and locate the ignition wiring. If its its only the starter part of the switch which is broken just wire in a push button.
I did this on my car and wired it throught a relay and used the button to start the car. Make sure you get a button which has a spring in it so tht it is not switched on all the time or it will burn the starter motor out. I got my switch from my local motorsport place (any switch would do). This should be a cost effective way to solve the problem and also a added immobiliser as i have hidden my switch. Was a while ago when i did mine, but hope this helps in some way.
