Rusty hubs on new FR?

FRTDI170

Hi folks,

New to the forum, but been viewing for a while since taking delivery of my FR TDI.

More than impressed so far having traded in Mk1 Cupra TDI for an ex-demo.

Only slight gripe is the hubs (?!) are quite visible on the 17's and are showing signs of rust!

Anyone else noticed same?

Dealer states that they can 'touch them up', but also said it will continue to happen as they are cast iron........

Any advice would be welcome.

Cheers

I have a late 2005 Nissan X-Trail with 4 rusty hubs, also my wife's Micra has them too and is a similar age.
Seems like it's PAR for the course! Not worth worryin' about!

You may also find a bit of a corrosive bond developing between the cast iron hub and the alloy of the wheels (electrolytic corrosion ?? ) .. this makes the wheels not want to be removed when you have a flat tyre and need to change the wheel ....
solution - take the wheels off now and apply a smear of grease to the hub face / inner face of wheel to prevent bonding !

Just a thought ...........
